How flexible is this non-flexible ticket?

I have the attached ticket. Can I use any train from Glasgow Exhibition Centre to Glasgow Central, and also any train from Glasgow Central to Edinburgh Waverley?

My work travel agent (who booked it) say I must stick to all trains in the itinerary they gave me for the whole journey. But I don’t see how the ticket itself specifies any train other than the Edinburgh-Darlington leg…

(I have a tight connection at Glasgow Central and there’s a fast train immediately beforehand which I’d prefer to get, you see)

Thanks in advance for any help! Happy Friday!

It is valid on any connection. If it was an e-ticket, it would have been harder to make that argument as they have the itinerary on them and embedded into the Aztec code, but on CCST as you have it it's valid on any non-reservable service.

This may limit you to the slow services from Central rather than the Scotrail Express services from Queen Street, but I'm sure someone else will confirm.

As you say, the ticket doesn't specify a particular train until Edinburgh. In theory you are supposed to stick to the booked itinerary exactly. However, in practice, since you can't be forced to produce this (and in any event might not even have a copy of it) you can take any reasonable connections for that part of your journey, including fast services from Queen Street or Central to Waverley.

None of the direct ScotRail services between Glasgow and Edinburgh are reservable. The only trains that are reservable are the handful of XC services (in the past, the daily LNER service would also have been reservable but this was withdrawn in December).
