Unfortunately we got there too late for any of the boats, but I can still get us onto an island even if it is by bus not going on a boat.

The next morning we get the 0614 Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire service 1 to Walney Island (St Mary's Church), arriving at 0622 Friday morning

Unfortunately despite being a tiny station, St Bees still has a 5 minute minimum connection time, so that prohibits us (by one minute short) of boarding the 1133 to Lancaster. Feeling that it's time to move away from the Cumbrian Coast, we therefore have a bit of a wait now until the 1227 Northern service 2C51 to Carlisle, arriving there at 1341 on Friday.

Not only is this station single line both sides, so trains have to wait for late running trains, but the section from Sellafield to St Bees is token working so the token physically has to go to the southbound train so there's no risk at all of you missing it - but I suppose they don't want people trying to double back from the limited-service stations at Nethertown and Braystones so they make the minimum connection not work so it won't be suggested.

We next board the 2040 Stagecoach West Scotland service X77 to Glasgow (Blythswood Street), arriving there at 2146 on Friday.
We then walk up the road to James Watt Street and get the 2212 First Glasgow service 1A theOne to Dumbarton (St Mary's Way), arriving at 2307 Friday evening.

It's just Benfleet station, there isn't a South Benfleet.

We enter Benfleet station and board the 2105 c2c service 2D67 to Limehouse, arriving there at 2203 on Saturday.
