Why do Elizabeth Line trains still skip stops in the Western Section

Newer stock also tends to have more in place re safety, announcements, door motion - which is a bit less haphazard. The 378s seem to dwell long, have dead time either side of doors open/close etc... frankly all just more complex.

Compare to the handles on older Paris metros which still fly open early! It's just safety and heavier tech.

And yes more padding / resilience.

As someone has mentioned before, it seems like the skipping in the western section is also in part to speed up the longer distance services to and from Reading, so why does the same not apply on the Shenfield branch?

Shenfield and Romford have fast services already. Burnham does not.

Also frequency: Does Brentwood need 8tph? More likely than Iver needing 4tph

What i never understand is why Southall is skipped on some trains. Southall seems like such a busy major station. Whenever i am there it seems as busy as neighbouring Hayes & Harlington which every train calls at. I can kind of understand skipping Acton Main Line / West Ealing / Hanwell / Iver / Langley / Burnham / Taplow as they are slightly quieter than the others. But skipping out Southall on some trains makes no sense.
I agree. I don’t understand why the T5 originating or bound services skip Southall particularly in the peaks. In the AM towards Shenfield they skip past Southall are barely full. In the PM again they still have decent capacity particularly after Paddington and Ealing Broadway. The T4, Maidenhead and Slow Readings are always extremely crowded. It’s worse when there are delays.

The only train that has a little justification is the semi-fast Reading trains but even that train first stop after Ealing should be Hayes and Harlington and the slower one skip.

Well as stated earlier, following customer feedback and people getting left behind at Acton ML, MTR were able to add the Acton ML stop to a few ex-Readings in the AM Peak.

Perhaps if more people can complain and suggest to TFL, GTS could tinker with the stops in the peaks a bit more (with Network Rails permission?) in future timetables.

To me it makes sense if the T5-Shenfields stop at Acton ML and Southall in the directional peaks, paths permitted.
