For Perth, Scotland. G2 Trainee role. Hopefully I am and hopefully you hear back sooner rather than later.
You most likely won't here back until a while after advert closes, but if your video questions are good then should only be at most a couple days to see if you have met the requirements for a interview

Yeah that makes sense. Looks like today is the last day it's advertised. Not entirely sure I performed well in my interview but I'll let NW decide lol. Hopefully they see through that because I can interview better in person, imo. Fingers crossed. Seems like a great career that will take me anywhere in the world that has rails and trains... I presume?

Yeah might not get face to face in Scotland.

Will most likely be a conference interview over camera, could be wrong for a smaller box like Perth.

Hi all, got an interview booked for a G8-G9 Position in Edinburgh. Feeling quite nervous about this but I know what I'm capable of, does anyone have any interview tips any gauge on what kind of questions I should expect? I'm pretty sure it'll be an online interview, but would really like to make a great impression. Thanks!

How many positions are available at Edin for G8-G9? If NW send and email to say they are reconsidering your application for G8 role after it was unsuccessful due to location can only be a positive?

No one really ever knows unfortunately, got a mate going through IST at the moment for G9 and best mate is currently a G9 signaller at edinburgh.

Could be roughly 2-4 signallers for G8, as 2 current ones are moving to shift management.

Unaware for G9.

Did you get unsuccessful on application and they changed there mind ?

There are currently 4x Grade 8 posts advertised on the internal website.

It wasn’t progressed to next stage due to my location. Think they got this wrong and have now reconsidered my application. I’m guessing assessment centre is interview stage?

Ah right, are you far from EH1?

You seem to be quite in the know lol so I’ll ask you. No email yet but I’ve seen this on the website, I take it if I didn’t receive an email yesterday about an invite I’ve been unsuccessful?

No they will be doing waves most likely, unless you get and email saying your unsuccessful, then you are still in the game

Me again, now waiting on my assessment centre appointment. Looks like NW were happy with my video interview. Chuffed.

For anyone checking this thread for info on the application process and generally what to expect, I'll list what I can remember below:

After entering your details with the initial application, you are progressed to online assessments. These are basically a few tests to understand your multi-tasking ability, and who you are and how you deal with certain things. Can't remember what this stage was called however after this, you will get your results in a report that tells you a bit about yourself and if the skills you have match what role you have applied for. Mine was 'Somewhat suitable' to a G2 Trainee Signaller. Then I received an email within the same minute of completing the first part advising me I was invited to a Video Interview. The video interview was a pre-recorded lady asking questions similar to a normal face-to-face job interview. The only difference is I had to record my answers and hit submit once I was happy with my response. You only get 2 attempts at this for each question asked! If you don't like the first attempt and decide to try again, the second attempt will need to be submitted. You cannot go back to attempt #1.

I got asked 4 questions, I can't remember them word-for-word but along the lines of, 'tell me about a time you were in a stressful situation. What was it? How did you cope with the stress? What was the outcome?', 'Tell me about a mistake you have made in the past. What was it? What did you do to rectify it and how are you sure the same mistake won't happen again?' --- General interview questions. I would suggest thinking about a few scenarios where you were responsible for something, where you were in a stressful situation, any conflict with a colleague etc. ]

Best of luck

Only person I have seen on here who also applied for G6 Manchester. Unfortunately I got results yesterday after a 6 week wait and I’m on the reserve list. Where was your interview? Good luck hope it works out for you
Was it advertised at Openshaw? I've read about people getting offers after being put on the reserve list so fingers crossed for you. They said there were multiple vacancies. Interview was near Piccadilly Station

It was advertised for the Manchester ROC centre so yes that’s openshaw, M11 2ET. Was gutted yesterday been waiting for 6 weeks and revising all sorts of interview questions and scenarios. Was your “assessment centre stage” just a face to face interview then?

Aww I'm sorry, I can imagine how disappointed you must be. Yeah, it was just an interview. Not sure why it's called an assessment centre

Yeh it’s no fun reading the “not shortlisted email “
They emailed me again today to say that my application is still active on the system so if an opportunity arises they will be back in touch, or I can apply and transfer over my application for any jobs in the operations recruitment section. So for now I’ll wait and see what happens. Good luck and I hope you get the job. All the best

There was a few role play scenarios, questions about my career history and competency type questions
Are you currently a signaller or working for NR? Or just applied straight for G6? I'm wondering if your interview will be different to that of a trainee G2 signaller role.
