I applied for 2 mainline driver positions at the beginning of November at Liverpool street and completed SJT, I've finally heard back from them.
Dear Candidate,

Following the online assessment (situational judgement test) that was sent to you, I can confirm that you have passed.

What this now means is that you are being held in a pool of applicants awaiting the next stage, the psychometric testing. There are 2 stages to this part of the process and you must pass both if you are to be invited for an interview.

Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that your application will progress to this stage due to the volume of applications received and that the requirments for each location advertised can and will vary thoughout the year.

The recruitment process for trainee mainline/depot drivers differs to the process for most other positions as it requires several stages for a candidate to complete in order to meet the required industry set standard as well as it being a continuious process as we recruit for various courses throughout the year. This is why we will not be able to provide specific timescales on when or if you will contacted to progress to the next stage.

Please note that your application for this vacancy will be valid for a period of 6 months.

Responses to this email will not to be monitored.

Kind regards,
Greater Anglia Recruitment

Anyone know how likely i will be on moving on and also is their any sort of practice test online or any advise for this sort of test ?

That is pretty much a standard message.... remember they get thousands of applications and countless internals.....Every man and his dog wants to get on the railway, compared to other careers, you are still treated reasonable well-look at all the police officers on here desperately trying to leave the police which was once a career for life!!!
Getting that magic email for the next stages is literally a lottery....best advice ..don't stop applying for roles on the railways ....keep going!!

@dk1 Hello,

I have applied for mainline driver at Ipswich depot. Do you have any info on rosters and annual leave at Ipswich depot?.. or any links to info posted before?

Thanks!

Afternoon

Annual leave would be 5 weeks (1 Jan-Mar, 1 Apr-May, 2wks June-Sept, 1 Oct-Nov) then 7 loose days.

I’m not too sure about their rosters but do know it’s split between those that just do regional routes and those that also drive south of Colchester.

Mainly early and late shifts but there are a few night turns.

They operate under Anglia Railways conditions.

Hope that helps.

Is there anyone else on here who applied for clacton? And has heard anything after the SJT results? Still trying to positive think myself into the next stage.
I’m assuming that my assumption that because they put out an advert there were actual jobs available was wrong.

Any updates on whether anyone who applied for Cambridge has got any further than an email saying you have passed SJT?

I think a lot of us haven’t heard for a lot of areas after being told we passed the SJT. I know I’m still waiting to see if I get asked to the next stage.

If it helps, people that applied for the roles back in early 2024 (Feb-April time) have only just been coming in too sit assessments this week so they seem to be running quite far behind.

Yea strange ain’t it very steange

I have passed both my set of tests so be interesting if I get anywhere
Makes me wonder if there were actually any jobs, or whether they’re just getting details for if and when there’s a job.

How does that work with them saying that the applications after passing the SJT are only valid for 6 months?

I’m unsure, but 1 person I was speaking too who was in for 1st round of assessment had said he applied back in March

Congratulations! Which depot? I'm starting as a qualified driver pending a medical, will be starting a bit later than you though due to long notice periods at my current company

Congrats! I’m still sat here waiting and hoping for a stage one. Hoping that the idea that they do depos in stages and just haven’t got to mine is true holding on to the hope I could still get the call.
