Hello,

How long does a letter of intention to prosecute generally take to arrive from the date of the of being stopped (Govia)? It's been over 3 months . Is this typical?

Also, has anyone used Manak Solicitors?

Many thanks in advance

You have probably just invited the posters curse (similar to the commentators curse) and it will arrive in the next few days.

Seriously the time varies widely. The fact you have mentioned a solicitor suggests it is not a simple matter which may explain the delay as Govia are making enquiries.

Yes Manak has been used by posters on this forum. If you use the search facility top right you can find a few examples.

I should say that the forum view is not to engage a solicitor until the TOCs letter has been received and an idea can be gained of the issues you face.

Most issues can be resolved without engaging a solicitor.

Really appreciate you getting back to me. I wouldn't say that it is overly complex which is why I'm concerned about how long it's taken unless they've got a backlog.

It was a situation involving a relative and the solicitor is more to help a quick resolution due to the stress it's causing- although the cost would be a factor!

Thanks again

That is your trade off. Manak claim they can expedite solutions quickly in certain cases. And people have come here to say they did achieve that for them so I have no reason to doubt it.

But of course it comes at a fee. But if that saves stress you may feel it’s worth paying for the professional help.

Yes, something to consider. Sorry- another question. Once the letter is received, how long have we got to respond? Thank you again.

Usually seems to be 14 calendar days.

In the meantime you can always get working on your draft response. Plenty if other threads to give you an idea of what to say. You probably know what was done wrong so you can think about how you might best address it in the reply you’ve got to send in due course.

Thank you and I have certainly been reading other people's drafts! Thank goodness for this forum.
