I only applied November I think and sat it last week though?
Someone may have to clarify this for me but I thought it was when the application started not when the assessment was.

If it's the latter then I guess you're on go the new rules but I thought it was the prior

EDIT; I stand corrected it's any part of the psychometrics not the application so yeah looks like you're on the new rules. Apologies.

Hi there,

Sadly got my results through I failed WMR enhanced standard but passed national mandatory standard.

Does anyone know what my options are going forward?

Cheers!

On the OPC website there is a listing of Companies who accept the national standard and those who insist on an enhanced standard. The enhanced standard differs from company to company as it is entirely up to them what they are looking for. A higher bar can also be used as an additional sift to ensure that they get only the best candidates on paper.

But in theory you can take your national pass to any of those companies who "only" require that level, and continue the process. Results are all centralised so each TOC/FOC can get details of your previous assessments.

Unclear if passing the national but failing the enhanced counts as one of your two/three lifetime attempts.

Failing to a companies enhanced standard counts as a lost life for that company. Theoretically, you could lose all of your lives for WMT but not lose any lives to the national standard.

What does it mean if you passed the national mandatory standard?
You've only received a national pass and lost a life with that specific company that requires enhanced.

As every company has different enhanced levels it's hard to understand but there are companies that only go up to national which you could apply for any of them

Hi All,

Does anyone know what routes you are likely to do for WMR based at Bletchley depot and would you every drive for LNR?

Thanks

See here under West Midlands Trains (LNWR being the local “trading name” alongside WMR in West Mids).

Drivers based at Bletchley are all LNR and core route is Northampton to Euston. Later on you can learn Abbey line, Bedford, Rugby and New St.

I think there are a number of links at Bletchley, as above you start being trained on and passing out on Euston to Northampton. Then you can move through links. Bedfords are in the mixed traction link as you would have to sign diesels. I believe you can't learn any new routes within the first twelve months after passing out anyway.
Core traction to start with is only class 350's, but most if not all Bletchley drivers will need to be trained on 730's pretty soon, most 730 work is also in mixed traction.

Hi All

Just wondering what stage people are at with this current recruitment process for the Bletchley depot?

Has it progressed to DMI yet?

There will be more assessments arranged soon. Over 130 people have been assessed but only just over 20% of them were successful in achieving the required enhanced level.

I already had stage 2 but unfortunately failed.

I failed the first test (grey/black squares). I recall my finger slipping and pressing when I shouldn’t then immediately after missing a black square. I passed the second test which was the pictures and identifying what was in them. I then passed the third test to national but not enhanced - had the stupid joystick of not fallen off mid action, I would’ve passed enhanced.

Very annoying but hey ho.

How do you know how many people were assessed and what proportion were successful?

I attended the stage 1 in Crewe at the start of January and then the stage 2 in Watford on the 29th January, and algthough I passed the tests, I failed the interview, gutted! Best of luck to everyone else who applied and I hope you make it!

I am sorry to hear this. All the effort and hardwork you go through, pass all the tests, then fail at the interview. The recruitment process is so cruel.

I failed my stage 1 assessments at the start of January and I am still awaiting feedback!

Best of luck for next time.

It’s brutal!
I hope you get good feedback and make it through next time.

Thank you.

Since you have passed all the tests, does that now mean you can apply to be a trainee train driver with a different company, but you won't have to sit all the tests again, you can just go for the interview?

I think so,
At least, that’s how I understand it to work, but I’m hoping to be able to clarify that when they schedule some feedback.

Yeah I’m still awaiting mine. OPC never seem to call you back.

I rang them and they keep saying " we don't have an assessor in to give you your feedback".
I finally got my feedback today. Failed my group bourdon on speed. The T-OCC (i think she said) I failed on enhanced but passed national

Oh good!
How in depth is their feedback?
Do they specify what you failed and how many you got correct?
I failed enhanced and national.
Will be interesting to see where I went wrong as I was confident in all of the tests apart from the memory one.

They specify what tests you failed yes, they don’t say how close you were to passing though.
