About what? Mojo explained why what happened happened above. You cannot be serious in taking offence to that!

While I agree that taking offence to the wording of the leaflet is way over the top, I can't help thinking that the situation regarding not being able to have more than 26 characters wouldn't be out of place in a Monty Python sketch.

I think a letter, enclosing a copy of the leaflet, should be sent to the Northern Rail offices at Leeds, expressing some quiet reservation of this wording and requesting an explanation from them.

Let those who feel personally offended speak for themselves.

I never take offence on behalf of, nor apolgise for, the actions of others. Anyone who raises this matter with Northern because they think it may cause offence to others is not doing it in my name.

Yes, generally just a county/district/national park is safer, lets people know roughly where you live without giving them the exact details.

Not any more, it doesn't, neither do other parts of my information. All have gone to the great information technology graveyard in the sky.

I now have a new signature that has a good meaning in life. :p

To be fair, if I hadn't seen this thread topic first and seen the 'offending phrase' I really wouldn't have given it a second thought. I create software and databases and I'm aware that if the word is too long for the field, it'll truncate the string and add '...' at the end (I do this in ORACLE to keep fields a consistent length on screen). Could you imagine what it would say if it said "Extra trains for the Penistone line"?

I should imagine if that leaflet were to appear, all the lads would be rushing to take advantage of this offer in:-
CROWDEN
WOODHEAD
DUNFORD BRIDGE
HAZLEHEAD BRIDGE
PENISTONE
WORTLEY
DEEPCAR
OUGHTY BRIDGE
WADSLEY BRIDGE
NEEPSEND

It is not me..but our local councillor..who doesn't have a sense of humour :lol::lol:

........... because they think it may cause offence to others is not doing it in my name.

I award you the prize for coming up with some new quotations that would definately fit in with the wording of the New Testement.

You make me very jealous with your knowledge of the use of such phraseology.
