1Z99 was the cancelled london victoria to reigate train ran ecs to Gatwick. Once attached it was ECS to selhurst.

You would have thought so as there are other trains.

Gatwick Express was regarded as the principal/premium route from London to Gatwick for around 30 years from 1984. I suppose I'm still trying to get used to the fact that it no longer is.

The rail industry wants people to believe it is a premium service, the reality is somewhat different. The only premium thing about it is the fares the rail industry want to charge…

That said, premium service or not, if fewer trains have to run it’s better to cancel the Gatwick Express services as the alternative would be to cancel stopping services which would leave passengers from these stations unable to travel.

Not Southern's day. P4 at Horsham is currently blocked to electric trains (BTET) because of a suspected cable fire according to staff I spoke to, as can be seen in Traksy signal berths https://traksy.uk/live/M+15+HORSHAM.

That’s not my point. It’s the premier / busiest route (not service, route) that gets cut first.

It's gone downhill ever since it became part of the Southern franchise. The drivers lost all their route knowledge - they used to sign umpteen diversionary routes, but they only sign the mainline and Stewarts Lane Depot now (and Stewarts Lane isn't even the main depot for the Gatwick stock anymore)
