Gatwick - Train On Fire? 06/01/25

Hi Folks

Gatwick station evacuated due to a fire.
Cant see a thread for it.

Apparently Class 377 had an under fire? Anyone know more?

My guess is 1H27 is knackered?
Everything seemed okay before then...

Trains, as per Real Time Trains, seem to be back calling again at Gatwick Airport, after a period of running fast (non stop) through the station. Wonder which platform the failed train was stood on / whose TOC it is? = GTR?

Trains rerouting via Platform 1 & 2 it seems.

Nothing is calling at Gatwick at all. Lines blocked on the fast lines (ie platforms 4-7) further up/down the lines.

I'm on a train heading towards Gatwick and we've just been told the next stop is Horley for a bus to Gatwick.
It wouldn't normally stop there.

And we've now just been told that we now will call at Gatwick after all. And Horley presumably for anyone who has already got the bus there.

Yes but according to the OBS on my train only two platforms are available so there is a bit of a queue.

Yeah... "bit of a queue" is quite an understatement by your OBS

That's what seems to be suggested by showing "FIRE" in the same berth as 1H27

Just had a call from a friend who is stuck in this. Apparently they can get to Three Bridges.

Glad it was relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. The airport station being closed all day would be a bit of a nightmare, even with Metrobus acceptance.

Oh dear! The OBS suggested that people bail out at Horley for the bus as it was likely to be a while before we got into Gatwick.
It looked as if most of the train did.

But they seem to have opened up more platforms now and we went straight in....

Train originated from Littlehampton, not Brighton, as was claimed in the linked tweet/post in post #1, didn't it?

P.S. Has the failed train been moved from platform 4 yet?

There was a 1Z99 briefly, then it turned into 5H27 so maybe recovery ongoing
