Hi all. On Friday 24th Jan I intend to travel from Kidderminster to Hykeham (leaving as soon after 9am as possible), but wish to have a break of journey in Lincoln.

When I did this journey years ago, the train from Nottingham to Lincoln missed out Hykeham so this was achievable. However, now when I try and do that, it says the route isn't permitted (on National Rail site). Do all Nottingham - Lincoln trains stop in Hykeham?

If this is the case, I suppose the best thing might be to do a Kidderminster return (coming back on Sun 26th, so just an OPR) for £53, then getting a separate return from Hykeham - Lincoln for the day ticket? Is there a better (i.e. cheaper...) way to do it? Wondering about the feasability of a PlusBus for the Friday and using that for Hykeham - Lincoln?

...

It looks like they all call at Hykeham.

Couldn't you just buy Kidderminster-Lincoln ( same price as Kidderminster-Hykeham) and then break your journey at Hykeham on the return?

The fare setter for Kidderminster->Lincoln (Off Peak Return at £53.00) is East Midlands Trains, not Cross Country, so you're o.k. to set off at after 0900.

Sounds like a plan, thanks. Think I'll play about with some advance singles and see if that works (will obviously just need to sort out Lincoln - Hykeham on the Friday separately, as aware of no BOJ on an advance)

Lincoln - Hykeham anytime day return is £3.70

Stagecoach don't serve Hykeham station, so depending on where you want to be, the 15/16 to North Hykeham (Newark Road) is every 10 mins, and the 9 to Whisby Road (near the Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum) is every 30 mins from Lincoln centre.

Plusbus is £5.00, a DayRider ticket on Stagecoach is £5.50 (singles £3)
