True but ‘Regional Eurostar’ for example proved BR was as prone to these shenanigans as the TOCs
Regional Eurostar (and Nightstar) were campaigns by MPs outside London then written into the legislation so they 'had' to happen. Blame public opinion for that. This fiasco is ... well see previous 11,000 posts.

True but haven’t those type of shenanigans long been a problem & have more to do with how the railways are funded, Regional Eurostar comes to mind in BR times

Yep - and could well be worse under GBR. Of course the TOCs haven’t actually operated as autonomous businesses since pre covid, so we’re already witnessing a mostly state controlled railway.

What does the article say? Have to be registered to read it.
Good article - cataloguing all the issues, and asking the mgmt about missed deadlines & future plans to which typically Hendy is evasive. SWR quoted as:
“We are doing this in phases. We expect the total rollout over the next couple of years. We haven’t got a firm date beyond the ten trains announced today. I don’t want to promise customers new trains without a full programme.”

Surely this article is now out of date given recent posts and confirmation of the shortening of training.

Published today. Although the author has already done a report for BBC South on this (www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWfu5rNaw9s), and almost all the quotes and information seem to be the same as that, so it's very possible this is just that same info from the 28th rehashed

But of course given it's SWR, dropping DCO to shorten the training course in order to get the trains into service quicker doesn't actually mean getting the trains into service quicker.

On balance though I'd say it's simply that the article is now out of date. After all, I'm not sure the dropping of DCO and shortened course are common knowledge outside of this sort of forum.

Just seen 039 on 2H19. Is this the first weekend of them in passenger service then?

Just had a short (~30min) go on 039. Smooth ride, but those bay seating placements are terrible aren't they. Why didn't they just put one more row of airlines in behind them and then they'd line up.!?
It actually feels better sitting in the aisle seat of the bay tbh, at least you're not looking at a wall, have a bit more room, and the option of sitting outwards a bit if there's someone next to you - as is all too common they seem to have gone with the zero separation seating design; the one where they've forgotten that us humans have arms.!!

There's a larger than normal gap between the vestibules and where the seats start, allowing for more standing space. Because this is a commuter train, some may argue this is a worthy tradeoff for a less crushed feeling during rush hour, although depending on travel habits that may not apply.

So could prove rather embarrassing for the bosses if it they knowingly fed the BBC & Rail Magazine etc a load of flannel by not mentioning certain important issues were likely to change only 2 days later.

Eh? What's embarrassing about it? The change obviously couldn't be divulged at that point and anyway it's a positive change.

Only, SWR’s drivers have Sunday as a normal working day do they not?
Yes, for many years and as pointed out many times on these forums!

Anyone who has tried to use SWR over the past week or so will be aware that the cancellations are spread throughout the week.

One of the two diagrams has been reinstated with a pair of 455s. Ignore the "This service is cancelled." which is a problem RTT has with VSTP cancelled and subsequently VSTP re-instated trains. You can see from the actual timings that it dud run.
