Do you mind me asking the point of this, the diagrams are well known on here and readily available if you look back through T&RS.

If I had a £1 for every time I have seen one of these threads, I would be VERY rich by now.

Have they not loaded the new diagrams onto the 125group website?

Hiya

They're wrong unfortunately, because XC had been using four HSTs daily since last December's timetable change.

The problem here is that the suggestions in the first post above that you replied to were out of date anyway, they're basically the summer 2010 diagrams, but this thread appears to have been missed by everyone at the time, probably because there were two or three other active threads already running discussing this years plans.

These for instance:

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=42733&highlight=hst+diagrams

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=39331&highlight=hst+diagrams

If you do a search on 'hst diagrams' you'll find a good selection of threads around Jan - March this year, but as someone who only joined yesterday you wouldn't know this, so don't worry...

Hmmm I'm confused here. I'm going down to Plymouth tomorrow and want to avoid travelling back on one of those crappy Voyagers. The First Great Western timetables do state which of the XC services are HST's and Voyagers. And according to this there are SIX HST's currently running on Sundays. Yet it says on here that only FOUR HST's are running each day. So what am I to believe?

http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Documents/Custom/TTs Apr '11/GW11M_TT24_WEB_V1.pdf

I want to get either the 1723 or 1823(prefferable to the 1723) service from Plymouth. But NOT if they're darn Voyagers! If I wait for the 1823 service and it turns out to be a Voyager I'm not getting on it, and will have to wait another hour and a half for a FGW HST. YES I hate travelling on Voyager's that much!

Is the info given in the FGW timetables completely correct that there are SIX HST's running on Sundays. And the 1723 and 1823 services from Plymouth to the North are both HST's?

XC801 1V48 0810 LDS-PLY, 1E73 1625 PLY-LDS.
XC802 Spare at EC.
XC803 1V50 0900 LDS-PLY, 1E75 1723 PLY-LDS
XC804 2C64 0905 PLY-NQY, 1S59 1135 NQY-EDB.

That is what is booked and due to engineering work services are via Newport.

Also one of the diagrams (which ends in Leeds) today is being covered by a 220+221 instead.

Oh dear, I do hope that doesn't work the 0810 LDS-PLY tomorrow! :(

One of the sets HST sets failed at Edinburgh on Friday so a 220 did it's diagram, which ended in Leeds. That's why the voyagers did the YRK-PNZ-LDS today.

I'd be very surprised if one of the Leeds starters isn't a voyager (or 2) tomorrow. If I know before I leave for work at 0630 I'll post it on here.

OK, so it looks like the info given on the FGW timetables isn't entirely correct then. As in the northbound direction for SUNDAYS, it states that the 1225 Plymouth-Glasgow, 1130 Penzance-Bristol Temple Meads 1423 Plymouth-Edinburgh, 1625 Plymouth-Leeds, 1530 Penzance-Leeds, 1823 Plymouth-Leeds are all HST's. I guess not then. Only three HST's are running on Sundays according to that info above.

Think I'll wait for the 1723 from Plymouth. Hope it's an HST and I'll get on it. If it's a Voyager then I won't be getting on that, I'll instead get on the 1745 FGW HST to Taunton. Arrive Taunton at 1910 and then have an hour and 10 minute wait for the 2020 FGW DMU slow service.

When I said 'daily' I was really only trying to explain the situation on weekdays, in response to the earlier poster who was giving stale info from 2010.

As XC only have 5 sets, if you can find 6 on the same day the timetable must be wrong, as they aren't hiring any in this year.

If you really want to avoid Voyagers then you could go via London.

However at the moment, 2C64 and 1S59 seem to be HSTs only half the time. The rest of the time an HST instead works the 1225 PLY-GLC, with the 1135 NQY-EDB a pair of Voyagers beyond Plymouth.

Xc tyrellcheck showed it was a voyager at 0646.

It's been updated at 0948.

Voyager is now on 0900, which was posted at 0945.

Sorry for wrong info but I just posted what was put out on the bkackberry.d

Voyagers aren't really that bad! I think the 1723 is Voyager operated anyway, and the 1823, I think the 1221 is HST operated

Yep the 1723 from Plymouth yesterday was a crappy Voyager. I arrived at Plymouth station at just after 5, went through to platform 4 and saw it sat there waiting to start the 1723 service. "Oh for...... goodness sake. I'm not getting on that rubbish. " I thought to myself. So instead I travelled back to Bristol via the services I mentioned in my previous post. I did see what the 1954 XC service from Taunton was, but it was another bloody Voyager! In the end I didn't arrive back into Bristol untill 2155. Could have got back at 1927 if I got on that Voyager at 1723. But I really hate travelling on those things for various reasons, that I travel via alternative services/routes to avoid travelling on them. They are the ONLY trains running on the UK network that I would goto such lengths to avoid travelling on them.

Crosscountry ought to bring back more HST's on their services. They are far more suitable for long distance journeys than those Voyager things. Weren't they once running EIGHT HST sets per day?

Yes bring back all those HSTs stored at Toton along with the hundreds of Mk3s and Mk2s lying around the place!

Which HST's stored as I believe they are all in Service with FGW, East Coast, East Midlands and Network Rail which probablt the ones you see at Toton?

I was being sarcastic because there aren't any spare HSTs and there aren't hundreds of spare Mk3s and Mk2s...
