Disruption at Werrington Junction [15/11/24]

It hasn't been a great few days for the East Coast with lots of major disruption, and this incident seems to be pretty major too and causing quite a few delays and cancellations.

Due to a fault with the signalling system between Peterborough and Grantham trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines.
Impact
Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

I think it stops more people entering the station, and joining the crowds kn the concourse.

It allows the station team to deal with the people already there.

More problems between Grantham and Peterborough this morning (amongst other disruptions) with the Up Fast out of action and everything southbound currently switching to the Up Slow at Stoke Junction. I didn't realise trains could cross back to the fast at Werrington though? I thought that crossover was only for northbound trains as part of the crossover from Down Main to GE/GN lines via Spalding?

No, there's a signalled move over the crossover from Up Slow to Up Fast. Gets used reasonably often for regulating purposes.

Power supply problems at Newark as well as IS05 (0700 Kings Cross to Edinburgh) seems to have been stuck with several trains stuck behind, all mostly 801s so no diesel alternative

Well, depending on the nature of the ‘supply problem’ and the length of area it affects, then they can start there GU engine and move through the area at reduced speed until clear of the problem area.

I think the issue is North of Retford (looking also at the LNER website). 1D01 has terminated and gone back South with the LUMO 1S91 being front of the queue when the juice comes back, 50p in the meter anyone.

Update 09:20 Due to the power supply issues 1D01 5:55 London Kings Cross to Leeds had to switched over to the GU's. This has caused faults on the train. It then had to return back to Retford and terminate. Currently the Down Line is Blocked The SDT is currently working out a plan to get services moving LUMO ticket acceptance has been agreed
