I heard a good few months ago there was meant to be a batch of E400MMCs moving from Manchester to East Midlands (Hull) does anyone happen to know if this is still meant to be happening? I suspect if it is it be in the new year now?

Thanks in advance

Stagecoach Stockport depot has received an influx of 27 Enviro double decks apparently transferred from Ashton, Hyde Road and Sharston.
This will enable less buses being moved when Metroline takes over depots from Stagecoach on Tranche Three start date of Sunday 5 Jan 2025

Stockport depot is remaining with Stagecoach but the new all-electric depot has been put back to 2028/29. So the new Electric deckers are being dispersed and Stockport remains hybrid (12xxx) or diesel (10xxx, 19xxx)

They are

ex-Ashton 10590/1/6/7, 12116/7/22/24 (8);

ex-Hyde Road 12112/81/3/6/7/252 (6);

ex-Sharston 10412/28/9/43/5-7/9/50/1,12192, 19562/5 (13).

In total 16 diesels and 11 hybrids (E40H - 12xxx)

Transferred out are 29 Enviros:

to Hyde Rd and Sharston 19239/42/5/8/66/71/327/8/33/4/42/4/5/9/50/1/90/2/400 (20);

to Ashton 19396/403/5/13/7/502/3/9/28 (9).

UPDATE Weds:
Another 11 Enviros transferred to Stockport : 10588/95/8, 12118/21/3 ex- Ashton 12090/108/9 ex-Hyde Road 10424/48 ex-Sharston

Am I right in thinking that with these transfers to Stockport that Stockport Depot now that there are more Hybrids and MMC400s than the standard older E400s now in their fleet, it certainly did so yesterday and I'm sure Stockport Depot passengers will enjoy travelling on the former Bryn Depot MMC400s that were bought originally for 34 Bryn/Leigh-Manchester route.

Sk23 and yx73 reg buses should be the ones moving over to hull
Right I heard 19's then early 10's first time I heard 23/73 plate ones

I thought all 23/73 plates in Manchester were bee network spec

Any idea which ones are due for hull, how many or when there due to move?

I have heard that some 23 or 73 plates are due to the East Midlands but I have heard they are due to go to Gainsborough to replace the existing Interconnect buses on the 100.

That is purely why they are going to hull

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

Hull is part of the East Midlands stagecoach group where the 23 and 73 plate buses are going

I heard we was getting buses E400's due in from Manchester to Hull to start to replace MAN E300's so fact Gainsborough getting some doesn't answer the question really

To be fair, no one outside Stagecoach will know for sure until probably late December

Interesting as Gainsborough’s 10901 has been repainted into the newer version of InterConnect livery out of the old version.

The 23 and 73 reg ones, introduced at Hyde Road and Ashton respectively, are to standard Stagecoach spec.

Quite a few mid-life buses have come to Stockport - including hybrids, 64 and 65 reg MMCs - have come to Stockport. These appear to have replaced some older E400s, but may lead to more 20-reg's reallocated to other Stagecoach franchised depots.

The 20 plates currently at Stockport will leave Manchester in January for pastures new. The older MMCs being moved in are part of the fleet come January 5th. Theres 46 Newer 20/24 plate MMCs at Stockport which will be replaced by the 50 Enviro 400Citys in January.

Given that some 20 reg's were reallocated within Greater Manchester for Tranche 2, I hope the others will remain here. However, with the report that the 23/73 reg's are leaving, plus your more open use of pastures new, I fear that they will be leaving Greater Manchester altogether.

The consolation will be no longer seeing buses pretty much every day introduced at the height of Covid. :D

I've heard some will be coming to mansfield in January to replace the ALX 400 tridents
Hampshire must be due some as we still have a large number of Trident and Trident 2s clinging on, though anything relatively new seems to drift straight to the southern part of the operation these days.

Suggestions from Manchester are that the cascade out of buses will enable ALL existing Tridents and early E400 19xxx (Euro 3 engined) being withdrawn across Stagecoach.

Other than the early prototypes, I didn't think there was such a thing as a Euro 3 E400?
Though Euro 4 came into law late in 2005, with obviously the E400s starting on an 06 plate early the following year.

Happy to be corrected!

12191 is an odd one to move, that one is due to move to Metroline.

To transfer to Metroline from Stagecoach revised as follows - - - and will probably keep changing right up to 5th January!

92 E400Hs.
Between 15-35 B9TLs.
20 Scania Omnicity.
14 B5LH.
32 BYDs.

Apologies if it has already been stated, but is it yet known roughly what buses will be cascaded out? Seems like a lot of the E400MMCs are being moved into Stockport, so would assume it’s predominantly the 2008/09 E400s moving elsewhere.

All of 19000-19130 were new to Euro 3 standard, with identical engines as their ALX400 predecessors, easiest way to spot this is the lack of Ad-Blue filler cap on the offside, I think there’s some cab differences but as a humble enthusiast aren’t completely sure on that. For the record, the only other Euro 3 E400s were a batch for Metroline London and Go Ahead London, and Travel West Midland’s ‘seed vehicle’ 4698 new at the same time as Spirit of London 19000.

Any ideas which B5LHs? 13161-74?
Edit:
Just realised it’s probably the Scottish ones!

Cascading out of Scanias and B9s from Queens Road has been temporarily paused due to issues with the new 400EVs.

I don't think we know for sure yet but there are nearly 200 classic E400s in Manchester at the moment. Almost all are 2008/09 so will be too old for Manchester soon and I therefore assume will be cascaded out once the big move round is complete and new vehicles are delivered. As for the MMCs my fag packet says about 80 will be available for cascade. How many ALXs are there left in service ?

118 ALXs left by my records, give or take a few that may have been withdrawn already, with 20 additional as open tops. Then you have the same amount again of Euro 3 E400s which will also be prime targets for replacement.

South has 36 ALXs still in service, ranging from 2004 plate Ex Devon examples to 2006 ex Coastliner examples. It then has 17 early build E400s / Trident 2s ranging from 2006 (56) plate examples to 2007 (57) plate ex Newcastle versions. I haven't included the 8 2011 examples being newer, and I believe Adblue, examples.

Scania Omnicitys 15384-6/90/91/94 have now been stood down and withdrawn from service (parked up away from Queens Road) ahead of transfer to Metroline - replaced by 11520-525/527. Volvo B9TL 16838 is now stood down following a severe engine failure and is now a parts donor awaiting its fate.

Bear in mind there are also large numbers of electric double-decks due into the group over the next year (see details on the Stagecoach orders thread updated last night) - combined with the cascade of 'deckers out of Manchester, I think it's fairly clear that there's going to be a lot of older 'deckers going - certainly all the Trident/ALX400 and the oldest E400s, but likely more besides. I can't help but feel that more open-toppers might be created to remove the remaining ALX400 open-tops, too.
