Building on that, there are some rumours going around that South is to receive some cascaded extra Manchester vehicles - does anyone have an idea as to what’s due to be released from the Manchester area soon?

I've seen a mention on a FB group about some Manchester vehicles going to South West for the newly won Taunton park & ride, which needs 68 plate or newer.

Quite a curious incident in Manchester this morning involving a Stagecoach Enviro decker badly losing an argument to a tree.

It's reported that there are no serious injuries thankfully... Link to article is below.

A main road in Chorlton is shut this morning as emergency services respond to an incident involving a bus.

Wilbraham Road is currently shut in both directions, according to traffic alert service Inrix. It is closed between Edge Lane and Oswald Road.

Pictures show a smashed-up Stagecoach bus on the scene, with fire crews onboard the top deck. The roof of the bus appears to have been ripped off.

Thankfully there are reportedly no injuries. Given the bus age it could either be a write off or converted to open top for use in other areas.

Looking at some of the pictures is there actually anyway it could be fixed as its seems to have sustained quite a bit of damage? The front end to just past the doors will obviously need a complete rebuild.

If it is to be rebuilt/fixed where will it be sent to be done?

It is a very puzzling picture given that the bus is pulling up to a stop. One can only think that the recent weather has had an impact on the tree.

That vehicle is a Stockport one so would have been due for replacement in the summer anyway with the new MCV/Volvo kit.

A great many of the buses in Manchester have not had their roofs repainted when receiving the new livery. Thanks for preparing me I just thought it was a little aged to spend the money to be converted. You're right that they are now built to be sacrificial but that's a rebuild and then you've wiring to sort too. Still, it's clearly not heading for Carlton just yet!

The latest Stagecoach fleet card shown on this website has the Bee Network school buses scattered around all the regular depots. They are the buses highlighted in yellow.

I understand that the School buses for Tranche One Schools contracts are not yet operating from Little Hulton.
They are still operating out of service from Sharston and Hyde Rd depots to run the school journeys and return to these depots during the day, then return for the afternoon run.

Speaking from a passenger perspective, an elderly female friend of the family who uses the Stagecoach Manchester 368 buses from Cheadle Hulme to Wythenshawe wonders will the lower deck saloon on the buses scheduled to be run by Metroline instead on Stagecoach Manchester be any different if Metroline introduce their own fleet of buses, as when she asked a bus driver at Wythenshawe Interchange about the changes, she was told that Stagecoach will be sending the buses on the Stockport depot bus routes they will lose to Metroline they run presently from that depot to other bus routes they will retain.

Bit of an update on this one, and seems that my hunch of a

has been borne out and that there is more damage than immediately met the eye.

Finally on fleet, last years buses 18367, 15718 and 15719 all return. Joined this year by 16943 (which is ours now) and newly converted 15717 both of which are in Peak Sightseer livery. We’ll also be borrowing 3 open toppers from our colleagues in the South West for the season (swapped for 3 E200’s) as they need less open tops this season.

Longer term we have our eyes on several buses to convert next winter although the Manchester tree victim we recently acquired won’t be one of them - the damage is far more extensive than initially thought so it will be for spares then scrap.

From Sunday 21st July, for a few weeks, whilst the roads are a little quieter and there are fewer people travelling, we’re making changes to many of our services.
If your service is listed below, please take a moment to check your new bus times using the journey planner. Please make sure you select your date of travel after 21st July.
Rush hour only changes
During the rush hours we have to allow extra time for our bus journeys to take into account the congestion we suffer. However, whilst the roads are quieter we can speed up many of our journeys. This means if you travel during the Monday to Friday rush hours the time of your bus may change and you will need to double-check the time of your journey.

Morning journeys
In the mornings, buses will generally leave their starting point slightly later and will arrive at their final destination at the usual time, or on some routes slightly earlier.
Afternoon journeys
In the afternoon, buses will generally leave their starting point at the same time but arrive at their final destination a little earlier. If you board your bus in the middle of the route, you may need to arrive at your stop to leave a little earlier than you currently do.
