Okay, gonna knock this on the head - Oxted sort of gets it, as he gave the right location then talked himself out of it. Dovey Junction has a new loop which allows a west bound train to enter the Aberystwyth platform halfway down, the eastbound train having already entered. Both can leave at the same time, as can a Pwllheli service. Nearest signal is Sutton Bridge Junction as ERTMS has made all colour light and semaphore signals redundant.

Good lord, so it has... I guess with all the hoo-ha about Welshpool I completely missed that.

It's an open floor. I can't justify anything else after that abysmal performance... :(

OK - try this one.

I'm managed by Northern Rail and have one platform.

My original used to have two platforms and carvings in sandstone of a train of four-wheeled coaches by father and son Thomas and J.C. Stocks

open floor? well, ok then

this station serves the fastest route (and oldest) route between the nearest city to the east, and the nearest city to the west
The fastest trip between these principal stations of these two cities passes through this station, but does not stop. The fastest journey that can be done regularly between these cities between the morning and evening commuter rush does, however, call here.
This station is served by the regional operator only, in spite of an intercity operator calling at both cities by an alternate route.
This station, along with one other, bears the name of the town

I thought that the fastest Liverpool-Manchester jourmey was the hourly service calling at Wavertree Technology Park, St Helens Jn and Newton-le-Willows, before running into Oxford Rd, Piccadilly and the Airport?

Floor open anyway.
