The 14.16 Euston to Birmingham New Street today is showing only five cars, 805 009 only - that's going to be a bit cosy, especially on the return working...!!

Better than cancelling, though.

First 807 in service Saturday 26th Oct. Should work:

5B25 06:18 Oxley-BHM
1B25 07:21 BHM-EUS
9G11 09:16 EUS-BHM
1B37 11:21 BHM-EUS
5B37 13:27 EUS-Wembley
5G38 17:26 Wembley-EUS
9G38 18:16 EUS-BHM
5G38 20:04 BHM-Oxley
Is this a one off, or will an 807 be in service next week?

I'm currently on 805 009 with the 14.16 off Euston and the reservations are now working on these units.

Update: Ten minutes after I posted that and five minutes before departure... They've turned them off and they're now saying "reservations unavailable".

Back to square one!!!

Is that because half the train isn't there though?

If that was the case it wouldn’t have worked first time around?
Also pretty sure if half train is missing, it automatically applies the first part of train, ie A-E.

in the early hours of the day of operation.

It can only be one of four units (807001-807004).
807002 hasn't come back from the factory. But all 3 of the others are at Oxley - 807001 is on 5W41 this evening finishing at Oxley.

Apologies, forgot that had transmitted back there.

So it’s either 807001, 807003 or 807004.

It was formed A, B, C, D, J.

Gawd knows how packed it would have been on the return from Birmingham; it was full and standing as it left Euston and that was a quiet time of the day!!!

Will the Class 807s have Standard Premium? Just making a dummy booking for the 07:21 using Avanti’s website and its assigned me a seat in the First Class section in Coach H (the Half Standard/First coach). Weirdly I can also pick any of the Standard Class seats available in Coach H.

Maybe an error as Coach H is usually SP on a 390?

Yep, saw it earlier being held outside New St and although pitch dark it looked lovely inside as i passed on the 07:01 to Piccadilly.

I guess the interiors of a 807 is the same as the 805s?

@Peter Mugridge I saw that 5 coach set heading south at Milton Keynes as it was delayed & it did look busy, but then I guess if any passengers with flexible tickets they will go for the faster service which is nonstop after Coventry

Pretty much, in terms of seats and lightiing, but the layout is a bit different.

Shop on 805s is in B/M, on 807s is in D
On 805s First Class is just J/K, on 807s is J plus half of H.

There are various more details are avaliable on Avanti's PDF which can be downloaded from their website (link to download Evero PDF).

The end coaches appear to be completely identical based on the seat map, but all others are at least a bit different (it appears 805s have more luggage racks)

Yeah I bet they've just hardcoded H, perhaps only if SP has availability - which is probably the real root cause, they should have removed SP availability once they changed it to 807.

SP is a complete bodge, and doesn't actually exist as a class - there are ways you can do it better than that though! I'd hope the TrainSplit seat selector behaves better though I haven't tested it

---

On second thoughts, it allocated you a seat with an SP ticket, something is very wrong with that config and that'll affect everyone

No, they are just First/Standard, same as the 805s.
I saw a video today that suggested there were Standard Premium antimacassars in the composite coach actually. Which would make sense considering that would give them equal first class provision to a Pendolino on a weekend.

Here’s a still. Not my video. Credit to the original poster and all that

Good news if it does, the only concern I noticed was that it allowed me to reserve a Standard Premium seat in the Standard part of Coach H.

Hopefully that gets rectified because if someone gets assigned a Standard seat with an SP ticket it’ll cause some complaints.

See I suggested this way, way back upthread, that the 807s would have a small amount of Std Prem and the idea was immediately rebuked... ;)

But then I have suggested a few things over the years that no one has believed, but which have come to pass...

Looking at their seating plans, Avanti doesn't seem to advertise standard premium on their 807s?
