Yep unfortunately that is the railway for you. Sometimes it can be quick but most of the time it is painfully slow. Having been in it for over 10 years I've learnt that no news is good news and until they say otherwise, you're still in with a chance.

Are you a driver, Nick?

Well done on getting through to the next stage. Assuming you haven't done them and failed any part in the last 6 months or failed them twice (delete as applicable), you'll get an email requesting you to book a slot to do the tests at the OPC in Watford. It's an all day affair starting at 8:30am so I would advise booking a hotel room the night before so you'll be fresh for the next day.

If you get through that, then it might be a bit of a wait to get a driver manager interview.

It could last a few months, it might be weeks so be ready. You never know when they'll call.
Or never … as it happened so many times before to so many and will happen in the future.

For any candidates , word of advice :

do not get to excited before you sign on dotted line .

2.5 weeks from submitting my interview to invite to assessment. Can't complain about this process so far, running rather smoothly and quick (for the railway). Does anyone know the expected course dates for Oxford next year?

Submitted my video interview for Plymouth on 23/09/24 - 4 weeks ago today. Anyone who has applied for Plymouth heard back yet? I’m still waiting.

Hi. I’ve applied for Plymouth too. Did the video interview two weeks ago, not heard anything yet.

Judging by other comments it seems the applications move through the process in a staggered fashion? Some people did video interviews in mid September; I didn’t even get an invite to do one until October!

For those attending the first stage assessment centre in November/December, do we expect the MMI to happen at the end of the day or at a later date?

It’s mentioned in the practice materials but not the email.

I am wondering the same. I believe it can differ so I’m just making sure to be prepared for the possibility of it being on the same day.

I have already passed the tests, but not the MMI. GWR have told me they’ll be at a later date.

I did the stage around June, then had my DMI in July and then had my MMI in August. Was given the form at start of the mmi

Did you guys only do the paper tests on the first day in that case? And the computer tests along with the MMI?

Depends upon the depot you have chosen and the projected number of vacancies as well as your overall score and whether internal or external. A mate of mine waited almost 4 years before being offered a role and that only after he had changed his preferred depot.
