It is possible but not guaranteed. There's usually a button saying something like "I'm not available for any of these dates". It won't withdraw your application but you could end up waiting for more dates to open up. There might well be more in the new year so don't give up.
Thank you for this.
So it's basically a gamble and hope they will offer further dates when they come up.
Iv emailed recruitment but nothing back so didn't want to click the button until I was sure. Il just keep my fingers crossed
Cheers

Unfortunately yes. There will probably be further dates but, like I said, nothing is certain..

They do take a bit of time to respond sometimes. With numerous depots being sorted through, it can take time. If you don't hear anything after a couple of weeks then try again.

Does anyone have any idea how big the talent pool is at Paddington?

Sorry to hear. Don't give up though. Opportunities will come up again. It can take a while to get in. Just to get on the railway it took me 7 years from first application to finally getting a job.

Persist and you'll make it.

Anyone still waiting for a response to their video interview? I did mine over two weeks ago.
I did mine in July and only heard back end of last month for assessments. It will take time as there are a lot of applicants and video interviews to work through. Two weeks is like 5 minutes in railway recruitment so just sit tight and they'll be in contact. Patience is the name of this game.

Thanks for your response. The waiting is tough. Good luck with your assessment. Out of interest, where are they held?

Hi All, new to the forum, submitted my video interview a few days ago and got an email today:

We're pleased to let you know that you have successfully passed your recent online assessment(s).

Whilst we endeavour to progress everyone who passes their online assessment to the next stage of the process, this is not always possible when we are dealing with high volumes of applications. On occasions like this and in the interests of fairness, we will only be able to progress those that fall within the top scoring bracket.

Not sure what to make of that but fingers crossed! Anyone else heard anything?

*Applying for Plymouth* probably should have said.

Have received this e-mail for Worcester.

Would be a bit of a kick in the teeth to receive an email saying ”you’ve been successful…” and then a follow up saying ‘…but you haven’t progressed”.
Would be rare for GWR. Usually if you pass those first set of online assessments you're in to the holding pool, rare cases straight to the next stage. However you'd be in a holding pool for an X amount of time. Same with SWR. Based on your applied depots vacancies, who's ahead of you in the talent pool and then your scores in the online assessments will determine the speed of progression.

Make you you’ve read it carefully, mine says they’ll only progress the top scorers.

They said they would endeavour to progress all people unless the applicants are really high that’s what I took from it

Hi all, I have just received this email. Has anybody else had this? Can anybody give this context? The only psyche tests that I have done are the initial SJE and Oats that came with the initial application, am I supposed to have sat some independent psyche tests?

We are pleased to advise that you have been successful in the video interview stage of the application process and your application is now waiting for psychometric history checking to be completed.

Once the checks has been completed you will either:
- be invited to attend a part or full assessment
- be invited to a face to face interview with the Driver Management Team
- your application will be brought to an end if you have failed any of the tests within the last 6 months or you have already had 2 attempts at the process and been unsuccessful.

If you do not hear from us within the next month, your application has passed the psychometric testing check and you will be invited to assessment/ interview when date are scheduled. This may not be for a few months. Please be patient and we will be in touch when we have further updates.

Grateful for any help…

The latest email feels like it is in slight contrast to the previous one which was received a few days ago?

Can I assume I was in the top scoring bracket and that this is the next step?

Yes you have progressed to the next stage congrats the tests aren’t referring to the initial online ones but the standard train driver tests that take place in Swindon with Gwr I believe. These are paper and computer and a mmi interview

So no it’s referring to people who have took them with other tocs and focs if applied for other vacancies

Yes, I received the same email this morning. They are checking whether we are eligible to take the psychometric tests, i.e. we haven’t taken them in the last six months or failed them twice.

Hopefully we won‘t have to wait too many months.

That’s awesome. Thank you for clarifying! I was very unsure there. Are the timeframes mentioned (months) normal? I’m impatient now haha
And thanks for responding!

Mate, congratulations. That’s feeling pretty good right now.
And yes, I agree, please don’t make this last months!

Well done on getting through to the next stage. Assuming you haven't done them and failed any part in the last 6 months or failed them twice (delete as applicable), you'll get an email requesting you to book a slot to do the tests at the OPC in Watford. It's an all day affair starting at 8:30am so I would advise booking a hotel room the night before so you'll be fresh for the next day.

If you get through that, then it might be a bit of a wait to get a driver manager interview.

It could last a few months, it might be weeks so be ready. You never know when they'll call.

Yep unfortunately that is the railway for you. Sometimes it can be quick but most of the time it is painfully slow. Having been in it for over 10 years I've learnt that no news is good news and until they say otherwise, you're still in with a chance.
