Still waiting for my start date, got offered role in May, but the onboarding process took ages.
Has constant calling not helped push for a date quicker? As I've seen people get their dates quicker this way

Hopefully you’ll get your medical soon. Still waiting for my training date unfortunately (13 June) and hoping for a January start date but still no news yet :( hoping to hear soon.
Seeing as June offers are starting to get their dates now, I'm sure you'll get yours soon bro! Hopefully you manage to get a January start date.

I had my medical last Tuesday but no sign of a start date. Offered the role early August! Also screening isn’t complete yet but they have everything so not sure what I’m waiting for at this point
How was it and what did it involve? Just a standard check up?

Also if you haven't already I would call asking for an update on screening because for me on the Reed site it says 'waiting for checks to be returned' showing it not completed but Recruitment have double confirmed that my screening is completed so that may be the case for you as well.

And for start dates we probably won't get one confirmed anytime soon as they are waiting for business to let them know what dates are available assuming they are going based on offer order

Yes, calling doesn't help, just keep being told there are no training dates.

For the people who have been given start dates, did they give you a station that was close to your house or are they giving you any station that’s in need of staff atm?

You don’t find out your station(s) until you begin training. As stated in the advert, you can be expected to work at any location on the network. Some attempt is usually made to get you on the right side of town to your home, but there are no guarantees. You can nominate other stations once you are qualified and complete your probationary period.

The majority of vacancies will be at zone 1 and gateway locations; it can take years to move to the more popular stations.

This process works the same for any promotional opportunities, so is worth getting used to and preparing yourself for if you do intend on moving on after a time.

Does anyone live outside zone 1-9 and how does tfl help with travelling to work/ how do you travel to your nominated station? Example say someone who lives in Milton Keynes and working for tfl.

You can get a discounted* season ticket and/or season ticket loan (full details previously in this thread) but that's it, unless you live on one of the handful of staff taxi routes that go past the boundary.

Ultimately, it is your responsibility to get yourself to and from work for shifts.

you mind explaining what I could be expecting during the training period and how the days will go.
how are you getting on with training? you started on the 14th right?
Good question. Please let us know what we could be expecting during the weeks of training and what the days look like!

When did you get offered the job? Please keep us updated :) and well done!
I was offered job in August and jumped in to take a medical after somebody pulled out, got asked Friday and attended Monday. I'm hoping that might jump me a little ahead of where I should be as all my info is completed. Chasing the TFL dream!!

Thank you. Hopefully some of us end up training together

My medical was a couple of weeks ago and my screening was complete, but they’ve suddenly unticked my references (have emailed) also hoping for a start date sooner rather than later!

Good luck!

Have they told you the tentative training month? I have been told there is a validity for the medical test . Which is 6 months. So I suppose you should be in before April.

Just finished my last exam before training live learning. Trainers are all 10/10 no one wants you to fail but it takes hard work, no days can be missed so be ready to kick in but enjoy the ride
