It still pays the most, though that gap is narrower now than maybe it once was. It's the only TOC in the UK (for now) where you can drive at higher than 125mph which appeals to some I guess.
Pedantic I know, but Southeastern High Speed drivers do get above that regularly.

I must admit, Eurostar is a job that very much appeals to me - not for the speed so much, but for all the unique challenges, it's surely a driving job like no other in the UK? Multiple rule books, two languages, being part of a small specialist team, it all sounds fantastic

If I was in a position to move closer to London (and I'm not) I'd absolutely put in for it, even though I'd probably end up worse off financially as the difference in pay wouldn't cover the extra cost of living.

Have managed to get through for the video interview. Has to be completed by 21/10/24. All the best for those who have also been successful

Who wants to have a lunch break in Kettering when you could have it in Paris?!
Depends on your priorities I guess.
Yes, it's lovely in Paris, brill food & culture . When there's disruption however, being stuck in a different country can complicate family life or disrupt work/life balance.
If you're based in Kettering, a TOC can rescue crew in taxis back from London or wherever in an hour or 2.

Does anyone know what is the next stage of the process after the Video Interview process?

Also with a July 2025 start date I can only assume they will be telling drivers they have the job in Jan/Feb 2025 (for ones that have to hand in their notice 6 months in advance of leaving there current TOC).

I think that would be fairly optimistic. The original advert said that the assessment centre/interviews won't be untill the week of the 10th Feb & that's even before the psychometric tests and medicals are done.
Although the advert does say its an 'anticipated' July start

How long is it from starting with them from another TOC to driving your first turn on your own? Going through the language, rules, traction and routes? I’ve heard before that drivers had to do so many years shunting in London first before they could drive a route on their own. Any E* drivers who’ve done the process I’d be curiosity to know the whole timeframe

Usually around 18-24 months from day 1 to being qualified to drive to Paris solo.

As someone said. About 18 months I believe.
6-8 months domestic and depot work
6-7 months Full time language
4 months or so traction/rules etc before and after domestic and language

Im not an applicant but I know the advert said qualified salary was 92k. Wasn't that the pay last year? Or am I mistaken?

Not that it's relevant, as by the time anyone qualified the salary wouldve increased but im just wondering if E* forfeited a 2024 deal? As im sure the 2023 8% deal took them up to 92k?
Maybe I've got my numbers mixed up.
Would be intrigued to know.

We've not forfeited any deals, not since I joined anyway :)
Bear in mind the top salary is only once you sign Brussels or 3 years post-international-validation, whichever comes first.

Hearing this on the grapevine put me off but now I wish I’d slung my hat at it!
There's always next time! <:D

So 2 years training then 3 years to get top whack roughly?

Rough figures....

- Start on 73k for around 3 months
- 80k once domestically qualified
- 82k after language training
- After 18 to 24 months from start date, 89.5k once fully qualified
- After 3 years or SNCB validation, 92.5k

Apologies if this has already been asked, has anybody got a copy of the base roster and how likely/frequently does it change?

Not that I am an applicant, but what happens when one is fluent in Dutch already, and let's say, B1 French ? Just wondering for the future.

Dutch is irrelevant but if you’re already B1 in French in theory you shouldn’t need the French course, as that’s the level it aims to get people to.
