That does sound plausible – there must have been some link between the audio and visual systems – hopefully this will become clear when the audio unit turns up. I also seem to remember that the stopping pattern could be modified via the keypad – it will be very interesting to see what functions are available.This is just an idea but I have heard that you would've entered the headcode of your train into the announcement unit, I wonder if the visual PIS controller and audible PIS controller connect and possibly when you enter your trains headcode it tells the visual PIS controller to become master.

My guess is that the destination unit links to the audio unit which in turn links to the interior displays and speakers. How did you manage to get the controller into master?

So I connected to a ground pin and three positive pins with 72V and with a couple relay clicks the text "DRIVER NUMBER ?" showed which I immediately knew meant it entered master. Also after going into the main menu I could see that there was no longer "NOT master" text and the extra 2 options appeared compared to just 1.
Interestingly trying the code for the secret menu didn't work and instead just showed the text "Running as MASTER ( press <CAN> )" See image below

As expected I am very very happy about all of this, I am able to make the controller master but in the safe proper way as it's meant to be!
From my past experience of extracting the database data from my other controller I know that the GT North and South East routes are both stored on the same chip so there must be another secret code or something like that to switch the database.Very interesting. Are any of the GN routes available?
MIL spec connectors are common on railway hardware.Unfortunately the audible PIS controller unit has not arrived yet however it should be coming soon.
I was having a look inside the internal screen which goes above the cab door and is a couple years older than the others when I noticed that where the data wires connected to the PCB it says RS485 which however the screen used MIL spec connectors, RS485 usually uses serial which made me come back to think about the one on the visual PIS controller.
Which means I have another theory for that serial connector on the visual PIS controller which is that it’s how it sends data to the internal screens but splits off into MIL spec connectors.

Fantastic! Do you have the codes for the special announcements? If not I can paste them in here as I have all of them.I simply applied 110VDC and it booted up!
It asks for a message ID then after pressing send the PA button lights and the announcement plays!
I don't have any speakers connected, the audio plays through the handset!!!!

Have you discovered a "test" mode? That could be a way of getting clean audio for all the announcements. I know the later version of this PIS system used on the electrostars had this feature - there's a few videos on YouTube showing this.By holding the PA button you can perform a manual announcement, by then pressing the red button on the handset the PA chime will play and your voice will come through the speaker.
This leads me to believe that the handset speaker and external speakers are linked together and play the same things.

I have been able to find the amplified audio output that would go to the passenger saloon speakers!
I have then been able to connect this to some computer speakers using crocodile clips on the audio jack.
This means I now have a clean and loud output!
