What’s replaced 033 then? That was on another New Brighton diagram this morning, the one half an hour later!
There is one New Brighton diagram which has a series of planned cancellations, so currently only 3 units are need to work the New Brighton line until the 1653 departure (this diagram makes a return). A 777 which therefore usually stables was used to replace 507029.

1440 Central to West Kirby has been cancelled so we may well see the 507 out again
2Y18 has also been cancelled

507029 stabled in front of failed 777033 in platform 2 at New Brighton.
Appears it will be working 3 services starting with the 1653 from New Brighton

507029 has finished its day working on the New Brighton line, commencing with working 2N51.
It has now headed ECS to West Kirby Siding No 1.

Delightful to ride 507029 a few more times today, but it must be said there was some shameful behaviour on that last circuit. Multiple 'enthusiasts', not content with simply being loud and obnoxious, brazenly attempted to loot the train of seats and posters. Thankfully, the guard caught most of them in the act at New Brighton and gave them a stern talking to, but at least one little scrote made off with a seat back. It should be noted the unit is not finished and will almost certainly be used several more times. Muppets like these are one of the reasons I'm glad to have remained aloof in this hobby; too many idiots.

Very disappointing to read.

On another matter thanks for your continued helpful and informative posts on this thread. Always interesting to read!

How very embarrassing for them.

I was wondering about the seat back - the little scrote you talk about was boasting that he was allowed to take it! In hindsight I should've found and asked the guard directly regarding that and confiscated said seat back off him. I do have a picture of the individual concerned if there are any Merseyrail employees on here who would like this to pursue the matter.

Thanks for the kind words; appreciate that.

I just hope today's nonsense doesn't affect any future use of 507s (e.g. the 1st November anniversary) and the second farewell tour.

I was thinking that, would be a bit disrespectful if any one did it on the anniversary

Was sitting above the motor recording the sounds of the loop in 64423 when one of them walked through with seat back cheering “look what the guard let us have” or something like that, saw him run off with it at new Brighton, hopefully it won’t put off 029s recent diagrams

Much as I hate people like that, it really wouldn’t be your place to do that unless you’re Merseyrail staff or the BTP.

I wonder if anyone saw me on the 507? I was the miserable looking sod wishing he’d brought a coat down to those antarctic tunnels.

Antarctic tunnels. In all my years of travelling on Merseyrail I have never found it cold underground.

Well lucky old you! Every time I use the Wirral line core I feel absolutely freezing. Complete opposite to the tube which always tends to be rather warm.

Probably would put 029s off for a bit but im sure they'll just put 003 or 018 on if needed.

Most of these who these who behave in such a way would have had zero interest in these units before they reached end of life when it becomes a novelty to ride them. The tour was the same with people (not just kids) more bothered about "dem tonezzzzzz" rather than enjoying the sounds of these great units. By no means am I saying people can only offer their farewell if they have cleared every unit in a class for 1000 miles but it's so obvious when you have bandwagon jumpers and even worse, social media "creators" who will do things like steal parts just so they can get their view count up from 5 to 10.

It was the same with the class 317s. I plodded up and down on them for years and hardly saw anyone take any interest in them. Then, on the last day, loads of people appeared out of nowhere. I made a brief appearance but my farewell was about three weeks earlier on the last occasion that two pairs ran up and down to Cambridge all day. The last run to King's Cross was a low key affair on Sunday morning. There were only a handful of enthusiasts on board.

Has 507029 been in service today or is it still stabled at West Kirby?

According to opentraintimes, there appears nothing showing in the West Kirby siding no. 1 suggesting its moved?

Edit, it was in West Kirby before on the carpark side siding.

Reports 507029 came out to work 2W49 this evening, replacing 777053 (053's 2nd day in service I think).
It appears the unit from 2W48 replaced 507029, which I presume has returned to West Kirby siding No. 1?

507001 is stabled in the wall siding of New Brighton this afternoon, whilst I believe 507029 has moved to Birkenhead North Depot from West Kirby.

They're not booked any work at all and only come out very briefly in the event of a 777 failure with no spare 777s available - being swapped out as soon as possible.
