My work has moved to the other side of London and so I am exploring commuting and terribly confused by ticketing, season tickets and all.
I have several options to leave from:
- Langley (Berks), Gerrards Cross or Moor Park (lift with wife to her office)
I commute 190ish days a year, I estimate. Mostly I clip morning peak as it is a good 90 mins from home and getting in at 11 is a bit late.
At the moment I just tap in on contactless credit card. Convenient. Pick any route and time... but I am wondering if a network rail card and/or a season ticket makes sense. The prices can be pretty high, so would be great to save a little.
At the moment I think I wouldn't use a season ticket as I don't guarantee to take enough identical enough journeys.
I thought the rail card would save money, but it looks like you get two singles rather than capping so not as obvious a saving.
What's more it looks like there is no way to tap in and out - I would have to buy a paper ticket each day I wanted to travel - Oyster only goes to West Drayton.
Am I missing something? What would you do?
Thanks for your help
