No ETS from a /5 - so it'd be just the /4. In this case it appears they opted to add a Gen set into the train, avoiding the low ETS rating problem.

What about standard Landore/Canton/Ebbw Junction/Thornaby/Gateshead/Blyth livery?....a deeply-encrusted mixture of coal dust and engine oil with the odd hint of faded Brunswick green poking through here and there?!

Oh I'm not too sure - I saw upthread someone said they had a vehicle with a gen in there.
In fairness, it's been demonstrated that 37/4s can output more power than their technical ETS rating (see 403 hauling mk5s) - wouldn't surprise me on this occasion either!
No generator was present as far as I am aware, having walked through the entire train I can't see where one could have been.
Having also been on board both runs with 37403 on Mk5s, I will say it was clearly right at its limit on the second run when it was EHing. The lights were dimmer than usual!

Not a rumour. The Statesman has two more outings booked this year and then the whole rake is being taken out of service for overhaul which is expected to take around 12 months. If the work is complete you may see some tours running from September 2025 onwards.
You'll probably find the '2025 tours available to book from 01 October' is a generic message displayed on the websites of all the LSL tour brands including the Saphos and Midland Pullman.

That's interesting. I wonder if LSL will be tempted to throw out more "enthusiast" type trips on their Intercity brand for next year to fill some gaps. Obviously won't generate anywhere near the sort of income that The Statesman and alike bring in but a good way to make more use of their IC sets and something coming in is better than nothing

There is the second Midland Pullman HST set available now which is more likely to cater for Statesman clientele. It is possible however that we do see more Intercity tours simultaneously if more resources are spare, and driver training and route knowledge needs to be kept up.
