EMR - Trainee Train Drivers - Recruitment Discussion

I applied for the qualified role at St Pancras however at the start of the year they had quite a big qualified recruitment drive where I think they hired around 15 or so qualified including atleast 4 I know of from my company. Not holding out hope but like someone said above hopefully the pay deal will mean a high number of retirees. We shall see. Good luck all.

Maybe it’s just me but wondering if anybody else on here is finding it a little odd that although BenJones1604 has been asked on multiple occasions ‘what date has he been given and depot applied for?’ Somehow that question keeps getting avoided and left unanswered. Obviously a heads up for the rest of us on dates and for what depot would help people on here!
Find it a little strange too that nobody else at all has come on here to say they’ve been given a date thus far.
Feels a little suspect to me but maybe that’s just my inquisitive mind… who knows!!

I’m guessing he’s applied for Kettering, I know for a fact that they had an opening a couple of months ago. Completely separate from this round of recruitment at multiple depots, perhaps he’s in with an earlier cohort?

Ahh perhaps. Was just expecting others to pop up and say they had a date by now is probably why I questioned him ignoring the question. Still, it’s the start of a long journey to the job

For those who do have stage 1 assessment dates, roughly when is it? Gives me an idea of when to expect the EMR specfic Assessment day as I'm skipping Stage 1.

Have you passed the assessment before then? to skip stage 1

In the past they have done Lincoln and Boston on the same day and same place and the same for Kettering and London. It would be interesting to see if any London applicants have been given a date and location as London would surely have more applicants than the rest and I’d assume they’d be first? I could be wrong. Stage 1 and EMR group assessment days have in the past been done at different locations as no DM’s are needed for stage 1 days.

London applicant here, had my shortlisting email but no date yet for assessments.

What’s the pass rate for these tests? As in the individual tests? Is it like 80% each test?

When I did my stage 1 I dressed smart just to be safe, but that’s my default for things like this as it’s easier to take a jacket off for example to dress down a little.

As for example tests, once again I’d stick with the practice material sent out as it’s there to help you understand what’s expected without giving too much away. If you could learn the tests then the testing itself wouldn’t show your natural aptitude

Wear smart casual, you will be fine......don't turn up in jeans and trainers!!!

Was my favourite, some questions you could have logically guessed like the one asking what the train braking system does. Answer I remember was to do with applying friction via discs near the wheels to slow them down.

no mention but I was thinking I don’t want to turn up in joggers I don’t want to jinx it but this month lol

I believe they'd check as application does ask for your National Insurance Number but I always make it a habit to check with recruitment directly via an email which I did and so believe that was the reason I got confirmation.

On the email sent for stage 1 testing it says if you have passed the tests already to email an address provided to let them know

Got my 2nd email today reconfirming that I have been short-listed and that I will be skipping stage 1 as I have passed the enhanced tests with Avanti before.

Congratulations on being shortlisted for the Trainee Mainline Driver Role for London St Pancras. The OPC have confirmed that you have already been successful at OPC Stage 1 Just need to pass stage 2.

Therefore your recruitment journey will look a bit shorter and will just include:

* Assessment centre
* Driver Manager Interview
* OPC Stage 2

I am just confirming venue and dates for this so for now relax and I will be in touch shortly

Would love to know if anyone has any idea what entails at the assessment centre/opc stage 2?

One way of looking at it, no news is good news at this point.
