There are a pair of 507s stabled on the siding at West kirkby, I didn't get the numbers

Should be 507018 and 507023. Will be moving later this evening to Birkenhead North depot (5T90), ready for use of the Southport line tomorrow morning (5S02)

8 cars commencing on the Southport to Liverpool Central route soon.
Ormskirk services will be running to Hunts Cross. I believe with some 507s to help strengthen services during the peak.
Northern Line Route & Timetable Changes
As the roll out of the new fleet enters its final phase, customers will begin to see eight-car services on the Southport line. This means, from Sunday 25 August, there will be some temporary changes to Northern line routes with train times slightly amended.

Absolute carnage on the 17:08 from Central. Dangerously overcrowded and heated. Desperately in need of a 6 car or 8 car

Attempts were made at Southport to strengthen this to a 6 car but it seems the units were not having it, so 003 had to continue solo.
It appears 003 has coupled to the other unit at Southport now (the other way round), so hopefully back to a 6 car set for the 2U61 departure from Southport.

Looks like it was coupled to 016, as they're on Diagram 2 today. 003 is at the Southport end of the formation for anyone interested.

Thanks, good to see 507016 make a return for its final few days/weeks before being withdrawn.
I do wonder whether 507017 may have already been withdrawn given its long absence from service, last passenger working being 25th July.

003 and 016 have uncoupled, with 016 running solo on the same diagram as quoted above.

I have a question about the tour if anyone can give an answer; alongside the Wirral line tour there will be a Northern line tour as well? It would make sense if there was.
I believe the intention is for there to be a Northern Line tour at a later date.

Now fully booked.
Had the BLS website open in a tab, and kept refreshing it every so often. Unfortunately didn't do so yesterday and ended up missing out. Guess I'll have to wait for the 777 farewell tour to do the stock interchange line, and it's touch-and-go whether I'll live that long!

The end of regular scheduled services of 507s is now close according to the latest update on the 2.0 FB page.
From 25th of August they will only be used as required. With 49 777s available and 42 diagrams it’s easy to see how they will become sadly a rare sight

The 25th August will not be the end of regular 507 services. The 507s will be going on the temporarily combined Ormskirk - Hunts Cross service from this date as mentioned upthread. I believe there will be two formations, one of which will start at Birkenhead North Depot and run empty to Hunts Cross, thence forming the following services: 06.21, 08.21, 10.21, 12.21, 14.21, 16.21, 18.21 from Hunts Cross to Ormskirk; 07.21, 09.21, 11.21, 13.21, 15.21, 17.21 and 19.21 from Ormskirk; plus the 20.21 from Hunts Cross to Sandhills only, before the set retires to Kirkdale Depot. I'm not certain of the other diagrams' workings, but I suspect the one running 30 minutes behind the aforementioned which would cover the busiest PM service on the line, the 17.10 to Ormskirk from Liverpool Central. This other formation would return to Birkenhead North by way of the ECS run 5B88, 23.07 from Kirkdale.

That is how I understand the set-up to be come 25th August. I guess the 507s will not be in use on weekends?
I think they will be on Saturdays but not Sundays. The morning move from Birkenhead North Depot to Hunts Cross is showing on Saturdays, which will almost certainly be 507-operated.

Latest info on mersey Facebook group was "before end of August". I enquired if there was any way 016 and 017 could make it on to the Wirral tour for their final workings but the reply was they'd be off the network by then
I have a nasty feeling 017, which was one of my favourites, has run it's last already, it's not been out in service for a few weeks now.
010 and 016 both sounded in good health today, just a shame about the grafitti on 010.
I don't know if the Ormskirk scenario may alter anything. They ran Ormskirk to Hunts X for a while in 2020 during one of the between Pandemic periods so will be nice to try and capture the relative novelty of it again
At least 018 has gone back to being beastly again!
The same three pairs as yesterday are out again this morning: 001 + 029 on the 06.21 Hunts Cross - Southport, 010 + 018 on the 06.36 and 016 + 023 on the 06.51.
Great performances were had from most of these over the last few days. 001 outstanding, 023 which can be lacklustre was very good this morning, whilst 010 is still as fit as a fiddle and is definitely the best of the three imminent withdrawals for me.
I assume 017 is in a race against time to make a brief return to service as it has been inside the repair shed of Birkenhead North for a good few days now. Fingers crossed it gets out one final time.
For the Wirral Line tour, I do hope they mix up the units slightly and don't just throw 001 and 003 on both tours. I wouldn't mind spending the day on a beastly 018 actually!

Thanks for this mornings gen. Is there any intention to use pairs tomorrow with it being the last day of the Southport airshow?

The last Sunday quoted for 507s on Southport line was 8th September, but this was before the Ormskirk scenario was introduced
if there are pairs available in Southport I should imagine they’ll be in use. 16 was a sardine fest yesterday before they teamed it up with 023 for the 15.12 so they do need the capacity.
