47501 certainly had its (active working) life extended by a few years thanks to LSL. An interesting debate may be had however, as to whether a loco that is a stripped shell, stuffed and mounted in a museum is actually 'preserved' or not.
It did indeed.
My definition of preserved is something in a semi protected state - sometimes under cover / paint, or in a museum type environment. 47841 was for a while, wrapped in the vinyls and stored in the climate controlled 1:1 premises in Margate. From what I understand it has been low loadered back to Crewe for parts recovery. As a complete outsider I believe 47841's power unit is not in a good way, but not sure about it's condition of bogies and electricals. as 47501 is reputed to be beyond economical repair and rumoured to be heading to Margate, it seems to be putting a superficially good looking two tone green back in the 1:1 collection, after donating it's power unit to another of the LSL fleet (maybe 47853). Quite what will happen to 47841 who knows.

I also understand 47811 or is it 47816 is tucked around the back of the Crewe complex - presumably definitely for component recovery then scrap I am guessing.

Then there is the matter of 47830 which I understand needs new tyres, and maybe a compressor ?

47501's power unit is indeed destined for 47853 although it will be some time until 'The Moose' sees mainline action once again. 47816 survives at Crewe but will certainly be scrapped once all reusable parts have been removed, a similar fate has already befallen 47811 although its bogies survive, currently under 47501.

47830 will need some work, as you say the tyre life is limited and it will need multi-working equipment fitted to be much use to LSL.

It would be nice if they paint 853 in the livery it carried when it was at Inverness as 614, although a banger blue one is nice

841 was always a bit of a dog of a loco, though it did eventually become better in it's later years after having a lot of money chucked at it by DRS. It did have a strong power unit though, courtesy of the now somewhat sadly scrapped 47709 which was due a more thorough overhaul before politics got in the way, ended up being stored and subsequently cut up by Raxstar. As far as I know, 811 has been scrapped, 816 hasn't reached its demise too and has recently been pictured around the back of Crewe but that it also yielding parts to the LSL fleet.

I wonder if 830 joining the fleet will mean 828 will return to D05 Preservation as, although it has had some use, it certainly hasn't been smartened up since it's hasty repaint at Ruddington and 37688 hasn't been seen for a while. It's also not it seems been the most reliable of locos.

Apparently points problems with the sidings and getting the ECS back out
Correct, the 17:22 EMR to Nottingham was having problems as well so ECS wasn't being let out until that had gone, 40 did shut down not far from Boston and 37706 did assist but 40 is back working absolutely fine now. Train will now be finishing at Crewe as well due to the late running and we will be heading straight into New Street rather than taking the booked route via Selly Oak.

How do you know they're not intending to do that?

Just diving into the livery wibble here.
I thought that 614 had carried a couple of interesting liveries - obviously there’s the XP64 scheme, but wasn’t it also one of the Inverness ones that had a cross between large logo and standard BR blue back in the day (yellow cabs and small numbers/logo etc), back in the 1980s when BR and the various regional depots were still finding their feet livery wise?

Maybe 47586 was the other one similarly adorned?

No, 47604 was the other one apart from 586.

47614 was outshopped in standard rail blue upon ETH conversion and was then repainted in large logo (by Eastfield) not long afterwards. It stayed that way until it was converted to 853.

I've just had to correct myself as well, having found a picture of 614 in standard rail blue (not the hybrid though). It can only have been that way for less than a year. Ironically Eastfield did one of their large logo paint jobs on it, and it was promptly re-allocated to to Inverness!

Yeah, well I’m still kicking myself over the whole 47604 thing so don’t worry. ;)

37521 worked todays 0709 5Z44 Crewe HS to Eastleigh Arlington hauling 57007 with 2 barrier vans and 2 coaches for brake force, the 57 has been stored since September 2019 and arrived with LSL via a trade for 37259 with HNRC

57007 came down unbraked and is to be stripped and provide spares for the rebuilding of 57302.

I wasn’t aware that 37259 was an LSL vehicle.

I've had a look on here and on WNXX and it's all a bit confusing, 37259 seems to have been involved in a bit of horse trading on its departure from DRS, sometimes it's shown as LSL but also as HNRC who may have been doing some repair work on it, obviously the WNXX report I saw today could be mistaken, hopefully there'll be a 37 expert on here who knows the actual history

I'm sure the guy who spent so much effort putting the cab desk of 57007 back together really appreciates it's fate...(!)

Not sure how much they'll be able to recover from 007 for rebuilding 302, but alas, this is LSL thinking, the actual realisms of it don't tend to come into their strategic thinking.

43050 has been released from the paintshop this morning and both it and 43059 have received Scottish names for their West Highland Pullman duties. They have since worked up to Crewe with Mk3s 40804 and 41182.

Another release from our Paintshop this morning, 43050 in 'Blue Pullman' livery for Locomotive Services, in the company of previously painted 43059....
