A tram failed at the railway station this morning and it's taken around nine hours to clear the line and restore through running.
It shouldn't take this amount of time to recover from a broken down tram. A breakdown is understandable, taking nine hours to recover is not.
It would be my presumption that due to the complications of the turn back etc, and there being nowhere to store the failed tram, they decided not to even try and put people on even more buses.
I wonder how they finally moved it!
If a tram failed in the Northbound platform of Old Market Square with a severe fault, there is not enough space for two trams (coupled) to go past the Crossover to turn back, to be dragged to a suitable storage point, which would only really be the Southbound termini or University Boulevard Sidings (Wilford Lane is complicated!)
Maybe you can answer this, what’s with the way some of the Citadis trams will display longer destinations on their front/back screens by scrolling, whilst others will display them in full but with a more condensed typeface? Are the screens different or do they have different software or something?

Sorry I have absolutely no idea! I think it's probably just simply a couple were delivered with different blinds for whatever reason... They are a different type though.
If you look very carefully at the blinds, you can see that to the right there is space for a number to be displayed on a separate screen. Have a close look next time you see a Citadis and it may make sense! I'm not sure if that's anything to do with your question, but I don't think it does.
