Surely that's the West end of the station?
They look excellent to me.Apologies for poor quality of images.
Looking at 08:28, it seems like there will be minimal linespeed increases between Leeds and Church Fenton, with only Neville Hill to Cross Gates, as well as through Micklefield and Church Fenton seeing linespeed increases. Can't see this has been posted elsewhere. It is long but absolutely fantastic. It is another excellent PWI seminar. It is specifically on the Eastern half of the of the TP upgrade from Leeds to York. Well wroth a watch. I will screen shot various bits and brakl it up later on.
Supposedly this month (for services which use static power changeover at Manchester Victoria). Automatic power changeover at Stalybridge to be commissioned by November. Is the Miles Platting-Stalybridge section used by electric units yet or has it been decided to wait until December?
Yes, apologies, I was photographing from west end bridge looking towards east, but of course that was west end of station!!Surely that's the West end of the station?
Thanks!They look excellent to me.

They did repeatedly say in fairness it is a major upgrade to the entire route. Removal of dangerous level crossings, electrification, increased capacity, and access for persons with reduced mobility. While I agree 2.5 minutes saved does not seem huge, I am happy to see the upgrade going ahead. Badly needed imho.Facinating video.
I'm puzzled with the mentioned time saving York to Leeds after all that expense of just 2.5 minutes.
2.5 minutes is more than 10% of the time a fast train takes between Leeds and Colton though, surely? I would have thought that's the most you can reasonably expect. Hopefully the service will also be more robust and actually make the faster timetable more often than it currently doesThey did repeatedly say in fairness it is a major upgrade to the entire route. Indeed. Instead of 75mph or 90/100mph DMUs operating on the 'stoppers' between Leeds and York, these can be operated by fast accelerating EMUs which will aid capacity as well.Journey time reductions grab the headlines, but much like HS2 the real benefit is capacity.
Northern are looking to replace the Sprinters in the next few years, although what the replacements will be is anyone's guess. Will the TOCs have the new units ready for when the wires are up on the TRU?

They will definitely at least be electric, in short (lots more info in the dedicated thread) most Bi-mode, some EMU, maybe a few battery.Northern are looking to replace the Sprinters in the next few years, although what the replacements will be is anyone's guess.
My hope is that they'll be bi-mode at least - the Stadler FLIRTs seem to be an increasingly popular option, although the precise nature of the chosen option for Northern is probably outwith this thread.
Thanks for posting - definitely a great watch. Among other things the explanation of how TWA orders work was good to know. Can't see this has been posted elsewhere. Physically, I don't see why they couldn't.Technically could the 397s run on the cross Pennine route? Obviously once wires are all up (a very long way away).
Yeah I do think they are great for the WCML just could never imagine one at Newcastle...Physically, I don't see why they couldn't.
However I don't think they will, they'll probably stay on the WCML
Yes, I thought that section alone was great and I have rewatched it twice already. Very informative indeed.Among other things the explanation of how TWA orders work was good to know.
Seem pretty pointless having a couple of miles at Cross Gates at 100mph when it reverts back to 90mph to Church Fenton. Why not a 100mph all the way i wonderLooking at 08:28, it seems like there will be minimal linespeed increases between Leeds and Church Fenton, with only Neville Hill to Cross Gates, as well as through Micklefield and Church Fenton seeing linespeed increases.
A previous video on TRU alluded to speeds in excess of 100mph between Cross Gates and Church Fenton.
