Izaak Walton, who wrote The Compleat Angler, once lived in Great Amwell. He is associated with Dovedale in Derbyshire. However, the nearest village to the Izaak Walton Hotel in Dovedale seems to be Ilam, Staffordshire.

Lurgan. Co. Armagh, also has a church dedicated to St. Peter. A little bit of Wiki strangeness: the entry re Snelston includes the words, re its parish church of St. Peter: "It is one of the few churches to have had dances regularly held on the roof." Just that ...

Walsall, West Midlands, also sounds a good deal like the "English-ised" rendering of name of a European capital city.

"Pushing the envelope" a bit -- Glasgow is another Scottish city: whose name is the second word, of that of a male person of some renown (one fictional, one real). With Dundee, it is of course the celebrated "Crocodile"; with Glasgow: R.C. Robertson-Glasgow (1901 -- 65): cricketer, and writer for newspapers, chiefly on the subject of cricket -- a humorist, but a troubled soul.

Getting far-fetched again -- Scottish places with shellfish-associatable names: near Bridge of Muchalls, Aberdeenshire (by the coast, a little way north of Stonehaven) is the location named Limpet Mill -- a one-time meal mill (now a ruin) driven by the Limpet Burn. (Incidentally, there was here -- briefly, and long ago -- a station named Limpet Mill, on the main line to Aberdeen.)

Gillybrands & Newtownhill in Kincadine also lies on the route of the ancient trackway known as the Causey Mounth.
Once again, getting a bit frantic and with, seemingly, little info on which to work: there would seem to be a bit of nomenclatorial confusion hereabouts. Newtownhill and adjacent Gillybrands would appear to be in the parish of Kirktown of Fetteresso, just west of Stonehaven; whereas there is a Newtonhill (no second "w") half-a-dozen miles approximately north, by the North Sea coast (and once again, the main rail line). "The whole boiling of" these places, are on or just by-passed by, the A90 road: which near its southern extremity (trying to get us right out of the Aberdeen / Kincardine area <D !) passes close by Kinfauns, Perth and Kinross.

Gogarloch in the South Gyle area is another settlement where a loch area was drained.

(At Gogarloch, it was the land area was used in railway construction, but at Kinfauns, it was because the land area under the loch was required for agricultural use).
Gogarloch is located quite close to Edinburgh Zoo (to which I've recently been). Upton-by-Chester (just north of Chester, as the name would suggest) is also located close to its city's zoo.

Mike Harding, folk singer and comedian, was born in Settle in 1944. One of the better-known songs of his making, is Rochdale [Greater Manchester] Cowboy.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
I was on the same year as Mike Harding at St Bede's College, Manchester, commencing there in the Autumn term in 1956 in the Upper Third.. I was in the "Classics" stream and he was in the "Moderns" stream.

Oldham is another town connected with the Lancashire cotton industry.

The only similar "boast" that I can make: is having been at the same university / same time, as June Tabor -- renowned on the "folk" scene and, I gather, still going strong thereon. I saw and listened to her, and hopelessly "fancied" her (far out of my league; we only ever exchanged a couple of sentences).

With me -- if in doubt, "twinnings": the Borough of Gravesham, Kent -- chief town, Gravesend -- is also twinned with a settlement in the German State of Schleswig-Holstein. Oldham's "twin" is Geesthacht; that of the Kentish entity, is Neumuenster.

I learn that Llangefni is Anglesey's county town -- a bit unexpectedly; had imagined that it would be Holyhead. Another counter-intuitive county town is Winchester, county thereof, Hampshire -- language-wise, one might have thought "Southampton"; but, "who expects things to make sense?"

What would I do without town-twinning? Trowbridge, Wiltshire, is also twinned with a settlement in the German State of Niedersachsen. Windsor's "twin" is Goslar; Trowbridge's, is Leer.

Yarnbrook has a pub called the Longs Arms and Hungry Horse. The Hungry Horse pub chain, is a far-reaching one in England -- Worle, Somerset (suburb of Weston-Super-Mare) has such a hostelry, called the Hungry Horse Super Mare West Wick, Worle.
