Has anyone travelled on the Chiltern Railways service consisting of the hired 67-hauled Mk3 trains formerly operated by WSMR?

I have seen them running on the Chiltern Mainline, but I cannot find any mention of them on their website.

The ex WSMR coaches are very nice inside. They have a restaurant car, declassified first class, free WiFi and all the fixtures and fittings are new. A few more will be running around as of next week when the summer timetable is implemented. Scheduled 67+Mk3 services are:

Up
05:43 Moor Street - Marylebone (Solihull, Dorrdige, Warwick, Warwick PW, Banbury, Bicester)
06:14 Moor Street - Marylebone (Solihull, Dorridge, Warwick PW, Leamington, Banbury)
06:53 Banbury - Marylebone (Bicester, Haddenham, P Risboro)
10:55 Moor Street - Marylebone (Solihull, Warwick PW, Leamington, Banbury, Bicester)
15:55 Moor Street - Marylebone (Solihull, Warwick PW, Leamington, Banbury, Bicester, Haddenham, Wycombe)

Down
08:20 Marylebone - Moor Street (Bicester, Banbury, Leamington, Warwick PW, Solihull)
13:20 Marylebone - Moor Street (Bicester, Banbury, Leamington, Warwick PW, Solihull)
16:30 Marylebone - Moor Street (Bicester, Banbury, Leamington, Warwick PW, Dorridge, Solihull)
18:06 Marylebone - Banbury (P Risboro', Haddenham, Bicester)
18:30 Marylebone - Moor Street (Bicester, Banbury, Leamington, Warwick, Warwick PW, Dorridge, Solihull)

I think I have the stopping patterns correct, though I only glanced at the timetable so there may be mistakes. Currently the MYB-BAN service doesnt use refurbs, it is the set you might have seen with old BR and Virgin coaches on it. I assume that wont change, but you never know.

Thanks for this, Cherry Picker.

Unfortunately, the 10:55 ex-Moor St arrives Marylebone at 12:55, so OPRs aren't valid!:-x

I love the comment on the Chiltern Railways timetable briefing:

In particular we have made strides to:
- provide additional seats in the rush hours, to address many of the overcrowding issues which have developed
- operate more locomotive hauled trains, which our passengers tell us they like

Other TOCs, take note.

Well a £25 Super off peak is valid on the 10:55 on the Monday Bank Holiday.

I'll be doing that as an outbound and the 18:30 as the return, happy days!

I walk past one of these sets each day - always wonder, why have they painted the DVT in Chiltern colours (albeit without any branding) but not the loco ?

The loco's are still (as far as I'm aware) being provided to Chiltern by DBS so really it's up to DBS if they choose to paint any locos into the Chiltern livery. They did do it for WSMR so they might eventually do it for Chiltern as well.

That DVT (82302) has been painted in Chiltern colours ever since it was released to service after refurbishment, with Wrexham and Shropshire. Someone will know, but I'm not sure why it was painted as such at that time.

Would they be running then, surely Bank Holiday Monday is a Saturday service so a Class 168 will be provided?

Yes, they are - arrivals after 1000.

Do you mean SUPER OP tickets, oper chance?

I don't think the LHCS run on bank holidays, so you want to pick another day.

The silver coaches will be re-branded with Chiltern decals - at the same time as they go to have electric plug doors fitted.

OPR = Super Off-Peak return, valid for arrivals into London after 13:00.

Definitely starting next week, except Bank Holidays, I understand, as a modified Saturday service usually runs.

Yes, they are starting next week.

As has been mentioned earlier, they almost certainly wont run on bank holidays. We only have two bank holidays (last Monday in May, last Monday in August) when the line will be affected by Evergreen 3 works anyway.

Oh great thats good news, will be looking to catch the 10.55 next week. Much prefer travelling in MK3s with nice big tables.
