Many are late by an hour or so, however,

1L86 --- Due at PAD 1932 --- Actual Arrival 2156 --- 144 late
2P78 --- Due at RDG 1900 --- Still showing as delayed --- 321 late --- I guess it never arrived RDG and cancelled
1L88 --- Due at PAD 1954 --- Actual Arrival 2201 --- 127 late
1P73 --- Due at RDG 1932 --- Still showing as delayed --- 329 late --- Seems still stuck outside DID
1P77 --- Due at RDG 2026 --- Still showing as delayed --- 275 late --- Seems still stuck outside DID
...
plus others.

I think of the 10 journeys I've made from London to Bristol in the past year, there have been major delays at Reading on 3 of them.

Certainly got my money's worth from the first class lounge, but feel sorry for anyone who had to wait on the concourse for the 90 minutes delay.

I wonder how many people know that you can get your ticket refunded when the delays are this long? I reckon about 10% will claim.

This reminds me that MML used to hand out forms on the train when large delays occur so that the guard makes sure that everybody has access to them and is aware of their entitlements. Never seen any other TOC do it.

I wonder if they took account of how confident they were that the delay would be attributed to Network Rail/another TOC when deciding to give the forms out...

A couple of them were for signal failures. They still paid out.

I meant if they knew the delay was due to NR/another TOC they'd happily dish the forms out, but if it was lets say a failed MML train that caused the delay maybe theyd be a bit more guarded? Knowing that they'd have to stump up delay compensation to other TOCs as it was their fault.

Although having said that is the delay compensation received calculated on a per minute basis, or are TOCs able to recover delay repay claims specifically?

I was there...

17.25 from Cardiff to London.

Arrived late at Didcot. There was another service (from Bristol I think) in the adjacent platform which left first so a quick swap by all passengers eventually saw us at Reading for about 7.45. Our train terminated there and formed a service to Bristol.

I eventually left Reading at 9.30(ish) arriving Paddington at 10.15(ish).

I was fortunate enough to be coming from the Gatwick direction yesterday and was able to get a Newbury stopper in P1 (although that was also very late leaving). Gotta feel sorry for all those who were trapped on any trains. As much as I like HST's I think being stuck on one for up to 3 hours not moving anywhere would probably test my patience (even worse if you are full and standing on a turbo).

When I arrived at Reading at around 20:30 it was surprisingly quiet. I was expecting total chaos and people everywhere. In all the years I have worked out of Reading station though I think yesterday was the first time I have looked at the departure board and every train has said delayed (usually one or two will be eithier on time of a little late). Thank god I wasn't working!
