I still love playing UK Truck Simulator. I was really interested in trucks when I was younger. I even considered becoming a HGV driver but it was one of those dreams that only lasted for about five minutes!
Give me the Renault Magnum any day! :D

I like looking out for foreign trucks. They have bigger trailers ! Anyone know why trucks in Southern /Eastern Europe make more of a whoosh noise as they go past?

Think they use Super Single Tyres/wheels which never really caught on over here

Probably smaller, but the figures are impressive: Neoplan Megaliner

A 15-meter long, 4-meter high, 2.5-meter wide quad-axle gigantic beast beast powered by a 21-Liter Daimler Benz, OM 442LA, V12 Diesel Engine producing a massive 503 bhp (370 kW) that does 44 Liters in 100 km. Nothing to worry about it running out of fuel because the tank can carry 600 Liters. It has a seating capacity of 92 people and has a total mass of almost 30 tons.

Re Artics, Lothian Buses trialled a Volvo artic for a while, and bought a Scania artic and owned it for a year or so before selling it on again. First also had a couple of early Wright fusion artics (W* FAL) kicking about, don't know what became of them.

Nottingham have some Wright and Scania artics that they use on the Unilink service which operates between the two main Nottingham Trent University Campuses.

There's a lorry I used to see regularly whilst at work (a Scania R-series sleeper cab, never got close enough to find out the engine rating) and its exhaust sounded like the Subaru WRX team had fiddled with it, a seriously deep rumble, and by joe did it shift!

On normal cars the tyres can make a difference to the sound; run-flats are said to be much more apparent than normal tyres. But on HGVs etc variances in tyre wouldn't make as much of a difference sound-wise. Particularly when you have a big diesel engine thumping away.

I'm starting the process of compiling a list of localities with artics operation (excluding airport internal operations), however it is rather slow as I have not managed to travel much lately. So far I have:

York also has artics on various park and ride routes mingled in with the normal P+R fleet

Lothian's 48/X48 isn't worked by artic any more (they only had one). The sole example has been sold.

There are 3 Citaro Artics with First Cornwall. They are usually working Park & Rides within the Eden site but do occasionally run service routes in the Area

Nightfreight is OK, but I think it lacks a bit in the boldness department. When I see the Prestons HGV, my eyes are up like a shot. Though it's all a matter of personal taste, I suppose.

Don't recall ever seeing any in Newport, but I can add one route and confirm another. Cardiff also has the BayCar 6, which has some of the smartest vehicles around both internally and externally. Bath has 9 (formerly 12; the other three now run the Luton Airport Shuttle as I discovered/revealed earlier in the thread) Volvo/Wright examples; three of these are W-reg and the other six are 55-reg. They are used on routes 18, SPA1 and SPA2.

Also, doesn't Manchester have more than that? I'm sure I've seen more than just the 135...

There are literally thousands of Artics in service in Europe with no significant issues. There are also now hundreds if not thousands of 15m citybuses. There are thousands of double decks, in the UK. I happen to much prefer the latter just for the upper-deck view. But I won't pay a penny for the privilege, and travel regularly on bendies on my home routes.

Good liveries on Scotlee and PH Hamilton hauliers , high spec trucks and trailers muts be on international duties.

The ex Lothian demonstrator YN54 ALO was refurbished by NCT when they got it as far as I know, it certainly matches the rest of the fleet. It takes me to/from uni most days!
