Yesterday I checked a passengers ticket and he produced a well worn Super Saver Return from Falkirk Stations to Chafford Hundred with 'LACON' discount. The ticket was marked with the date 17/04/11 and had two rubbed out thermal stamps. The guy was travelling from York to Leeds and claimed that he had broke his journey at York and that his ticket was a Voyager ticket and perfectly valid. He said the LACON was the same price as a YP (he had a YP in his possesion).
Upon checking my machine, the YP fare was about £19 more expensive, and as far as I am aware there is no such thing as a Voyager ticket. Besides the validity code of the ticket states that if a overnight break of journey occurs the journey must be completed before 12.00 the following day.
I suspected fraud and the feel of the ticket felt like a dried peice of card that had spent the night outside!
As he insisted it was a 'Voyager' ticket I wonder what other people in a Guard or TI role make of it?
