Travel Time information for London Underground lines

Hi,

Is it possible to acquire a list of travel times between all adjacent stations on the London Underground (and maybe DLR, Croydon Tram Link and Overground too)? The reason I ask is I am planning on programming an automatic find-the-quickest-route planner and as such require this information. I know I could find it by doing many, many searches on the tfl journey planner - but this seems like overkill if someone has the information already to hand.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Simon

For the underground you don't need to do searches for each journey combination - the time between stations is on posters at each station so you can easily note it down - although of course you will need to visit at least one station on each line to do so!

Ah yes - I remember these!... are these posters available online?

Also, are average/recommended transfer times between lines for all stations (where applicable) available anywhere?

Don't know - never looked for them online! But I suspect not as they are, of course, different for each station since they show times from the station they apply to.

Aren't they only at some stations though? I saw one at Sheperd's Bush (Central Line) but not at Uxbridge for either the met or picc lines.

Mojo would appear to have posted the gold (although you might want to wait until Tuesday if you use the first link due to engineering works)

The first link indeed does the trick. Interesting point of note - once you get so far from a starting point (e.g cockfosters), it starts missing out stations... not useful! But easily solved - just look again from Hammersmith (for example).

They are at each station, just not always in the same place. Sometimes they're in the ticket hall, sometimes outside the front of the station. They are always there, as they remind staff what time the last trains are...!

Next question then - what about a list of interchange times? For example, recommended time for changing from H&C to Circle at Paddington, or Victoria to Northern at Euston?

First & Last Tube times can be downloaded from here http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/1129.aspx which gives an idea how long the journey will take.

Not sure on Interchange times but stations like Oxford Circus i'd take 10-20 min to Interchange, Bank maybe 20-30 min if your conecting between Bank & Monument. Some stations like Mile End/Hammersmith[District & Piccadilly lines]theres cross platform interchange

Bear in mind that some sections of tube lines might not run very frequently at all, and this fact is not mentioned in the First & Last Tube Times information.

For example, in my recent experience, there is no Hammersmith & City Line from Barking between 2130 and 2157, although District did run from there every 2-3 minutes. There is no District Line train from Ealing Broadway between 2235 and 2254.

Interestingly enough I found an Android app (called London) that has a minute minder on. I'd only use it for one line at a time though since it suggests it takes 67 minutes to get from West Ruislip to Ickenham (presumably changing at Liverpool St instead of getting the U1 (I think) or even walking)

Indeed, I use that application and it only has:

  • London Underground
  • London Overground
  • Footpaths between SOME stations
  • Monument/Bank interchange
Anything else is not included, but the times for the above seem to be pretty accurate :)

To answer this specific point, unless you are referring to possible weekend engineering work Timetable Notices, the timings are:
Mon-Sat (H&C)
BKG 21.17 (pfm6), 21.37 (pfm6), 21.57 (pfm3), 22.17 (pfm3).

Mon-Sat (DR)
EBdwy 22.28 (9, UPM), 22.38 (7, UPM), 22.48 (9, UPM), 22.58 (7, BKG), 23.08 (9, UPM).

I must have been given daft information then I guess in that case. For example, I came off the Central and ran for the District in Pt 7, the driver saw me running towards him, turned around, and asked why I was running. I told him that I thought he might leave soon, and I was told that he's not leaving for 18 minutes and I should go away, have a cuppa then come back because there's no other train leaving :(. That was either a Friday or a Saturday (haven't got my record with me).

As you posted the first query on 6May, I'm guessing it was the previous weekend 29/30April?
The Friday was Royal Wedding Day and a Saturday service was running.

On Saturday 30April there were engineering works, with services suspended Embankment to West Ham.
The service from EBdwy to Embankment was operating at a 15min frequency until 10pm! reducing to 20mins thus:

22.02 (7, EMB), 22.19 (8, EMB), 22.36 (9, EMB), 22.56 (8, EMB), 23.16 (8, EMB).

So, it looks like the 20min service was in operation when you arrived, apologies.
