Hello, I am from Mexico, and I want to add a little information to this forum, recently a video came out of the president of the country saying that the trains will circulate at a speed of 80 km/h, the truth is very little to me, taking into account Note that these trains can go faster, I left a photo of the trains in case you wanted to see them better. (sorry if I have bad English)

Hello and thank you for the information.
We have all been surprised that these trains have found use in Mexico!

The urban lines in lost pretty much all their power and signalling cabling during covid, as the government closed them all down and stood down the security. About half of the lines have been restored so far... Gautrain didn't get rid of security, so it didn't have the same problem, and seems to be running normally
The gautrain is fantastic. Very clean, efficient, fast and modern trains. There’s no way they are going to be replaced by HSTs. Security is in abundance all over the station and on trains. They are so strict that even chewing gum and consuming food isn’t allowed on the train.

whoops tagged the wrong person,sorry

I must say, the livery and interior really do demonstrate how well the HST has aged as a train, especially for one that was intended to be stop gap as far as I am aware. The interior in particular is very nice!

Looks like the solution to the platform height issue has been found, as evidenced by a picture from another thread in the rolling stock subforum: portable stairs.
must say the chevron on the front does look alot like the markings on the front of portugeese locomotives

I thought these were Nigeria-bound, no?

I've created a separate thread under International Transport for the HSTs going to Nigeria. It seems general HST export news has been lumped into Mexico-related threads. https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/hsts-to-nigeria.257329/

I can confirm the ship Panthera J is on its way to Africa and Mexico.

According to the BBC and Rail Express Magazine, the power car numbers on board, possibly are

43007, 43008, 43009, 43010, 43016, 43172, 43192 and 43378

There’s 11 power cars gone on this shipment and 43007/378 aren’t two of them!

President Lopez-Obrador will require Class I carriers to run electric passenger services (or allow a Mexican government operator access to do so) on their mainlines.
Maybe more UK equipment exports are forthcoming? 91s/Mk4s? 350/2s?
We just had a lot of leftover electric equipment in North America scrapped outright - 20+ remaining stored Amtrak AEM-7ACs, all but 2 Montreal AMT/STM/EXO MR-90 EMUs, and Amtrak's HHP-8s (not scrapped but being converted to cab cars/DVTs). Seems new build or abroad are the only options.

Perhaps I’ve missed something, but I don’t see the word “electric” in that article?

I think you have missed something. The word "electric" doesn't appear, but....

López Obrador also said the railway network would have to be electrified to accommodate passenger service. The cost of such an undertaking was not mentioned,

Very interesting, is 43007 mexico bound too?
I would guess so

Edit: Just read somewhere else that there were "interested and connected parties" on board that special working - not sure if that refers to people involved in HST workings previously or as part of a different future for the set that was used in the working yesterday

Maybe Nigeria bound? Seems Mexico is mostly using slam door Mk3s, unless they plan to mix and match them. I'd assume it is being sent with XC sliding door ones to Nigeria.
If Mexico are only using slam-door vehicles, they won't be getting many more - by my reckoning there's less than 15 vehicles that are realistic prospects (on top of what has already gone).

Maybe 1 slam door set and the rest are power doors? Maybe mix-match? Who knows at this point. Only the Mexican government, probably.
