Ah, it seems quite surprising when I’ve heard the 23rd being mentioned quite a lot, especially when driver training has been ongoing for some time.

If the 730s were to come in on the 23rd, would they slowly be introduced diagram by diagram or all come in at once. There are only 6 730s at Camden as of today, but there may be more at Bletchley l.

Maybe depending on elsewhere, mentioned on here, if they have sorted out the front cab reset only, passcomm issue? Also has previous been mentioned on the Facebook 730 pages also.

So it will take about 3 weeks for the 319s to go completely if the 730s come in then?

Probably longer, it’s a new fleet introduction afterall. The 196s took 2 or 3 weeks after the first diagram was introduced for any more to enter service.

It depends what the hold up is. I was under the impression training at Bletchley was nearing completion. Training has restated at Crewe and is planned to commence at New St soon too.

There hasn't been a confirmed intro date yet, but the noises from above seem to suggest they are looking for it to be sooner rather than later. Having the 319s is causing headaches on the depot.

I'm sure it is, but so was having the 170s.

Indeed, I'd say they're just using it as an excuss for the toilet issues on the 350s

Doesn’t look like there’s any in service today. At about 0800, one pair near Bushey and then another single unit at Tring.

I note that one unit at Camden CS has also had LNR stickers applied to it.. not sure of the number.

What is happening?

As you may know, London Northwestern Railway is investing heavily in a brand new fleet of modern electric trains, which will very soon replace our ageing Class 319 fleet.

Before the new trains come into service, two of our Class 319 trains will be withdrawn from November, which means that passengers travelling between Hertfordshire and London Euston will regrettably experience shorter and busier trains for a short period of time before our new Class 730s are able to be brought into service.

For a number of reasons, including significant build delays caused by the pandemic and the complexities of introducing a new train fleet, it has not been possible to bring the Class 730s in as quickly as we would like. The Class 319s, which were due to be withdrawn before the summer, are increasingly unreliable and regularly cause short-notice service cancellations.

We are currently in the final stages of our work to introduce the Class 730s as a matter of priority, which will add much-needed capacity and significantly improve journeys on the route.

During this short period of time before our new trains have entered service, we advise customers to consider traveling at quieter times of the day outside of the morning or evening peak if possible. Customers can use our “How busy is my train?” tool on our website to help plan their journey.

We apologise that reliability and crowding on this part of our network has been a problem in recent months and we thank you for your patience while we focus on resolving these issues.

Presumably they are going to reduce the number of 319 diagrams by one (two units) and replace it with a single 350, and obtain that single 350 by short-forming something else? Thus they know exactly which it will be.

Or are they just continuing with the same number of 319 diagrams but with no spare units?

Possibly! I initially read it as we don't know which units will start in the morning (figuratively) but we all know my interpretations are a bit odd!..

There were no 730s in service today. I saw 319220 by itself and there was another pair out I think.

I think there are still 4 or 5 of the orange ones left at Litchurch Lane along with some green ones. 206 was dragged to Oxley a week or so ago
