Does this mean that there are short formed trains elsewhere?Five turbos running out of Exeter today and 15 150s working. almost a perfect allocation in Devon and Cornwall.

I think I shall buy a lottery ticket!Five turbos running out of Exeter today and 15 150s working. almost a perfect allocation in Devon and Cornwall.
Caught a return train from Oxford on Bank Holiday Monday. Surprised that the 23:05 is still being run with a two carriage 166.
The 23:05 service stops at Didcot, Reading, Twyford, Maidenhead, Slough and London Paddington.
Are there still any 165/166's being run between Reading and Newbury, and vice versa.

Interesting. will the Greenford branch train come back as empty then? And will the 03:54 from Reading to Paddington still be a 2 car 165?Weekdays the 23.05 up from Oxford is a 2 car 165 attaches at Paddington with the unit off the Greenford to go back to Oxford as a 4 car 165.
This working ceases with the December timetable change with both workings going over to IETs.
The Greenford shuttle is meant to go over to the 230 battery unit at some point, which won't go back and forth to Reading.Interesting. will the Greenford branch train come back as empty then? And will the 03:54 from Reading to Paddington still be a 2 car 165?
I was thinking that. I assume they will be based at West Ealing. But whose to say those units will even be ready by December. The Greenford shuttle is meant to go over to the 230 battery unit at some point, which won't go back and forth to Reading.
I noticed that Vivarail battery unit is currently stabled at Reading depot. The Greenford shuttle is meant to go over to the 230 battery unit at some point, which won't go back and forth to Reading.

I assumed that the 23:05 is the last returning Banbury to Oxford local service. Taking a rather long winded trundle to Reading depot via Paddington and back.Weekdays the 23.05 up from Oxford is a 2 car 165 attaches at Paddington with the unit off the Greenford to go back to Oxford as a 4 car 165.

Does this also mean that all GWR Oxford to Banbury local services, stopping at Tackley, Heyford and Kings Sutton will be worked by IET's in the future?
How is it managing to do that?Short of Turbos today, 800025 covering no less than 5 unit diagrams today.
How does that work? Surely one unit can only cover one diagram!Short of Turbos today, 800025 covering no less than 5 unit diagrams today.

Have all the unit workings off the 5 diagrams been lumped together into one “super-diagram” or is 800025 only covering certain parts of the 5 diagrams at different times of the day?
So far with ease I'm pleased to say.How is it managing to do that?
Both 06.57 and 07.06 down departures from Bath cancelled as well.Short of Turbos today, 800025 covering no less than 5 unit diagrams today.
Devon has been shocking all summer, but worse now the colleges are back, almost seems as if even train planning etc have just given up as even the "golden" trains seem shortformed most days. Its just embarrassing and quite demoralising having to make the same crappy excuses to the same regular customers each day. Last night the 17:21 from Exeter Central to Paignton was a 2 car 150 (again), left Central rammed and when we pulled into St Davids there was a crowd of people longer than the train trying to get on, I was getting off there thankfully! Not quite relevant to a Turbo thread, but 158958 has been reduced down to a temporary 2 car at the moment. 150 availability is often now only +1 a day (used to often get +2 or +3) (that is not critical of the fleet either, they are still often over performing availability wise) which makes a noticeable difference in the short forms in Exeter. area. It is very rare you are short of 150s for service, but there is just less extra available at times now to cover up the gaps in the other parts of the fleet. Obviously the reason why Devon Metro is worse off, is you can split paired formations generally without making too much of an issue operationally (as opposed to for customers). In the Bristol area, Turbo wise (158s are generally paired nearly all day but it's a riot all day if you short form those to 2 vice 4!), there is only 1 x diagram for Turbos that runs paired all day, that's the 4th and 5th carriages on 1F06 0600ish Pompey to Cardiff. That is why Devon always seems to get it worse I think, because you can't Turbo wise, make Bristol area any worse formations wise to provide extra stock. Yet again yesterday the spare 2+4 HST was also out covering other unit workings during the daytime.
The situation today is poor, only one Turbo in operation in Devon and that's on the Tarka Line, none on EXM-PGN. They might not be in Devon but they're out there, according to this morning figures the West Turbo fleet was only on -1The situation today is poor, only one Turbo in operation in Devon and that's on the Tarka Line, none on EXM-PGN. Where are they all?
