Unlikely, (and it’s often been asked), but all the while there’s only 4 available, (probably just 3 single diagrams with maintenance needs), why would anyone see it as a suitable replacement for anything else? It’s all the usual old “microfleet” problems.

They have the same seats but the former Hull Trains interiors are exceptionally tatty and GC’s were only refurbished a few years back. That said, GC put a lot more stuffing into the seats when fitting the new partially-leather standard class covers, and those divided opinion slightly. I think they’re now very squashy and plush, others find them too stuffed to be comfortable now.

@James Kevill as the 180s left EMR ages ago and some are now going Grand Central, might we have the thread renamed to something like “Former EMR 180s join Grand Central” please? Or perhaps the forum staff would like to merge the posts into the 221 for GC thread, which could perhaps then be renamed “Additional trains for Grand Central?”

180110 used as a replacement due to another set aquiring a fault so was sent back to Crofton.

So that suggests either that 180110 is now leased by GC, even if only temporarily, or that the ROSCO is using the ex-EMR units to meet availability requirements in the GC contract, or possibly that some specific deal has been done between the ROSCO and GC?

Is there any reason why 180111 didn't also make its journey? Afaik it's also part of the GC fleet (according to some rail magazine that I can't remember for the life of me ) so is there any reason? Depot space or lack of need?

Yes. 180111 apparently is also a GC unit but never transferred, so 110 remains the only purple unit with them for now
