Wander why its all slowed down now? When its going to pick back up, I wander
I'm waiting for euston too. I'm still waiting for my CBI results. Had the test on Monday. Was told it would be around 2 weeks for the results although your further ahead. I wonder if more people have to do CBIs and then they going to do the final batch of interviews all together maybe?

Probably just a simple supply v demand issue. Too much overflow with no courses pencilled in, or maybe not drastically short on drivers like they were in the past so recruitment has slowed.
maybe? maybe not? just a theory...

Thank you, I waited 15 days to get the good news for my CBI. I think so too regarding getting all the CBIs done then doing everyone together, possibly!

I think so too! Just don't want them to close the doors now despite us reaching this far!

It's been 11 weeks since I got the 6 week email for Manchester, only done the initial online questions so far. If you look at the latest posts on the October forum, it looks like there will be a long wait for Manchester. I guess the slow down on Manchester will be due to Crewe being delayed and removed the agenda on the ongoing pay talks however on a slighlty positive note, Crewe was re-introduced into the talks last week and if things do move forward, many of the overstaffed places at Manchester and Liverpool will be freed up by existing drivers who have applied to relocate to the Crewe depot.

Sat stage 2 today! Passed all of the computer assessments (I personally found them to be absolute light-work) but I suspect that I’ve messed up on the CBI quite severely. I will keep everyone updated but if you have a CBI coming up, I recommend coming up with at least 2 responses for each potential question and memorising every detail of them. You get absolutely machine gunned with probing questions so try to anticipate them as much as possible. It was extremely intense for me!
As suspected, I was unsuccessful in passing the CBI. Extremely frustrating but at least I know what to expect next time. Best of luck to everyone!

Congratulations and best of luck with the DMI!

Got my results as well failed my CBI...bit of a tough pill to swallow when you stumble at the last hurdle.
Absolutely sickening…Thankfully all of the other test results are valid for up to 5 years so it will just be the CBI/MMI that needs to be re-sat.

Yeah, there were three of us and I went last. I’ve just requested feedback as well. I’m quite eager to find out where it went wrong.

Sorry to hear that, you know what to expect now and will pass it the second time. All you have to do is the cbi and dmi!

This DMI waiting is frustrating, I really want to finish this. But on the upside, more practice time!

Thanks mate, not sure I’ll be waiting for avanti, as I’m looking to get my key asap but glad I’ve got a full set of passes but 6 months will fly by for you and you should definitely try with another toc

12 Weeks today since I received my 6 week email and this has just come through (Manchester applicant):

Re: Application for the role of Trainee Train Driver with Avanti West Coast

Thank you for your continued patience with regards to your application with Avanti West Coast. As we have previously mentioned, this is a long-term recruitment campaign for Avanti and as such, applicants are being taken forwards at differing times. The positions are still available, and we are filling these in accordance with when training courses are becoming available.

At this time, unfortunately, I have no further update for you in terms of your application as we are still processing other applications. We are in constant communication with Avanti and working with them to ensure that all applicants are being considered and then prioritising particular depots where demand for trainees is more urgent.

Irene is the project lead within HR at Avanti for this recruitment, and she would like to add:

Congratulations for getting this far in the process! We received a large number of applications for our Trainee Driver roles, and we are working together with the OPC to get candidates through the process in manageable batches in line with the availability of training courses. Please bear with us at this time, we aim to share updates with you throughout the process but it may be a while between updates but please know you have not been forgotten!

Your application and interest with Avanti is still very important to us and as soon as we’re able to progress with your application, then we will do so, however it may be a few months before we can do this.

I’m sorry that we have no further news for you at this time, and we will be back in touch as soon as we’re able to.

Thanks

Polmadie is the same. I'm in no rush anyway. Waiting for a start date for a different role at ScotRail, so I'd like to get started there before I even consider anything with Avanti

Anybody been to Crewe, the Avanti training centre? Is there any parking?
Hi is Crewe the only training centre? I am London based and have just passed all tests and CBI. I am waiting for driver managers interview.
If they are expecting the Londoners to come to Crewe how does that work?
Thanks

I see. So they are expecting us to live in Crewe. For the duration of the classroom learning course? Do you know how long this is for and is it Monday - Friday? Thanks
