Just found out i passed the computer assessments, so waiting to hear the outcome of the MMI. If i passed the paper and computer assessments but fail the Mmi, would i have to resit the whole thing? Or am i safe with the paper and computer assessments now?

Avanti do CBI not MMI and you don't have ti resit the whole thing you results are valid for 5 years

Its all about train driver competencies, how you deal with pressure, customer service, working alone. Be consistent with your answers.

Im in the talent bank (been there since March 2023) awaiting a course start date which is going to be 2024 at some point.

How long in advance did you get email for DMI date? I received 6 weeks wait email today. I am wonder if my interview be 1-2 weeks after that or I will get another 6 weeks.

Any tips for the DMI

As someone mentioned, they will send an email to "point" you in the right direction. But my tip would be; "be well prepared/research", "be yourself" as it shows your personality and have a notepad and pen nearby as an aid to refer too incase you get thrown off your rhythm.

- 4 weeks after that email i got one from Avanti Recruitment saying "we will be in touch with DMI time in the next few weeks".
- 4 weeks after THAT email, I finally had my DMI slot and interview on Microsoft Teams.

Wait.. you never went in to the depot? You had the interview online? See I only got the first part, I had to email them to get an update where they said we'de be in touch shortly with DMI dates been 6 or 7 weeks still nothing.. out of curiosity was your route Euston to Manchester?

No mate. I dont think anyone has had their DMI in their chosen depot since pre-covid.

May be a daft question, just had a notification that Northern Rail are hiring trainees. I may well find out I've failed the CBI soons, is there anything wrong with applying to Northern now and withdrawing if I pass or fail with Avanti?

i would say theres nothing wrong with that. Its actually reccommed to apply to many different places. all ur doing is increasing ur chance of getting an actual job. plus if uve passed all ur psycometrics ull probably get fast tracked on northern probably.

Sorry this has been your experience. Definitely apply again if it’s something you are passionate to pursue.

I disagree about the practice material. It indicates what sort of things they will test. It’s not like they’re going to tell you what the test will contain in exact detail. That wouldn’t make much sense from a testing point of view.

I remember reading it countless times but it’s true… For any about to have psychometrics the various forum threads practically walk you through the tests if you diligently search back. I make no moral argument for or against this but there wasn’t a single element of the psychometric assessments that were a surprise to me on the day.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could help? I received an email on the 5th May to say I had passed my opc and I will hear from Avanti for the next stage but I haven't heard anything since. I've tried to find an email address or a way of contacting them but I've had no luck! Has anyone had this and can maybe give me a way to contact them?

I passed on the same day for the same depot and haven't heard anything either. There's also some from the last intake for Liverpool still waiting for a DMI so I think we just need to wait a little longer unfortunately...

did it last Tuesday, May 30th. Not gonna pretend I'm not disappointed, but I'm very proud I got as far as I got!! WAW!

Thanks klkl. I had my feedback call yesterday and they pretty much said the same thing that you’ve said. I was also shocked to hear that I didn’t fail on the two tone beep test, as I first thought but just failed the group bourdon test to the Avanti enhanced level, (on accuracy). I just have to accept the results and move on for now.

If Avanti choose to have another recruitment drive later in the year, I will try again at that time. I am however obviously aware that there is a long wait before applicants who have passed all the tests / interview etc actually start training.

How long back does Avanti check your sickness record from previous employer?
