First two visitors have been announced:

26038 and 37403

Not the Syphon I was hoping for, but so be it. Should at least get to enjoy a pair of 37s up the hill.

Event being held June 23 - 25.

A pair of Rail adventure class 43 power cars now announced as visiting. I think a few may want a ride behind those as they’ll be hard to get for haulage in that livery. It will also be novel to see them on each end of heritage rolling stock :D

Sadly (well, sort of), I am out of the country during the event, so won’t be partaking.

Power cars?!? Good grief.

I'll be giving them a miss.

I expect they’ll be used as a back-to-back pair throughout; I can’t imagine the logistics of getting them to T&T a train will fit within gala timetable?
Anyone know if the WVR stock is air or vacuum braked?

That’s a good point

I wonder if 37403 will tow 26038?

038 has had a lot of work done to it, but I'm not sure it could be allowed out on the mainline?
It used to be on loan at the NYMR, was it Whitby-certified then?

All vacuum braked so will need 'translation'. As a pair I don't imagine they will fit in the headhunt at Oxenhope either so they would have to come off at Haworth loop.

Interesting, and presumably brake translation can’t be done using a loco on the opposite end, so if they are working as a pair they’ll have to triple-head with a translator?
Im going to say the railway have probably done their homework here and the final announcement may involve some suitable accompanying stock (LSL’s Scotrail set maybe?!)

Last year the air brake only guests had a second loco inside them to provide vacuum braking.

I would imagine the same arrangement with the power cars.

If this string of posts in the RailAdventure power cars thread is correct, 43468 and 43480 have recently been given (or will soon receive) dual-brake capabilities.

Problem solved then!

I think the word "assess" was used so perhaps a little early to think it might actually work of course, being a mechanical know nothing it might be a relatively easy thing to sort out but I'm not sure the designers ever considered the addition of vacuum when they laid the mechanical doodahs out on the plans

@43096, if you've not seen this thread already, would you be able to elaborate?

It is going to be a very full railway (siding space wise) for the weekend that is for sure!

I was surprised to learn that we seemingly still have vacuum brake expertise!

Many steam tours still operate on the main line with vac brake and there are many dual-braked diesel locos still operational for assisting these vac-braked trains.

Correct. But what I meant is designing new dual-brake systems from scratch. I'm not aware of anyone that offers this service/capability.

"Rodz Day" on the KWVR today. The visiting Teddy Bear is running all day, double heading with an assortment of Gronks on some of the turns.

Notes:

Teddy Bear = Class 14
Gronk = Shunter

37403 travelled down yesterday so definitely will be there

If 26038 was ready it would have been hauled by the 37, but work still ongoing to complete the rebuild.
