What is RailForums' favourite modern multiple unit?

Very revealing that people think anything from the sprinter family is modern?

See Post #1 (quoted below), which defines "Modern Multiple Unit" as any Multiple Unit in current usage. And "mainline" can probably be worked around for most train classes.

An idea which occurred to me this morning is it might be amusing to ascertain what RailForums' favourite modern multiple unit is - i.e., of all the multiple units in current mainline use, which is most preferred?

Extremely controversial but the 800/801s are nice trains for me. Probably one of my favourite trains to enter service in the last 15 years

The 390 is definitely my favourite, far and away, but I know many forumers dislike them very much, so I don't know if it's even worth nominating it. I wouldn't want to come across as quite so delusional!

Funny you say that - I was thinking the very same! My misspent youth was on rattling AEC / Leyland smoke-machines, that even, sometimes, got all the way without failing!

A recent article on the class 313, described them as "...First of the SECOND generation EMUs".
So if Mk1 and Bulleid-derived (1951 EPBs to 1970s REPs) are the first generation, what does that make of the LNER Tyneside units, LMS Merseyside 502-503 units?
And even moreso, LSWR 3SUB units and the LBSCR Coulsdon overhead bow-collector units....?

Yes, I would strongly have to agree.

I just wish Virgin still operated them, whether in the original silver or red or in the charming Flowing Silk livery does not matter to me. I wish all three/four coaches of a 9/11 car set (respectively) were first class still, I wish you could still get a Seatfrog London Glasgow for £12 as easy as pie, and I wish the staff served up fresh Eggs Benedict in the kitchen. Crispy bacon (nothing like the stringy fat LNER serve up), very runny poached egg and a beautifully creamy hollandaise. Four hours of comfortable bliss and tilting action in Coach H, yes, that was my favourite luxury in life before Dec 2019, my little treat once a month or so. Sigh.
