Could more IETs be built for operators such as LNER?

DfT has just released the latest LNER agreement, and some details of the new trains are on page 153
Is this document new? It contains several pieces of outdated information, including reference to transporting Queen Elizabeth II...
They may have released it recently, but it's dated 24 June 2018 and the PDF was created on 13 September 2022 (co-incidentally).

DfT uploaded version 1.5x 2nd June, with notice of variation.

The variation is basically an extension from June 2023 until 01:59 hours on 23 June 2025.

So unless I am being stupid, I would guess any other variations to service or rolling stock would also be included in newly published version called 1.5x

The original might have been 2018, version 1.2 was April 2020, version 1.4 in July 2021 etc

I can't see 12-car 350/2s going down very well with travellers between Leeds and London at full fare prices.
Why not? They go down very well on LNWR services to Crewe and Liverpool at more reasonable prices than Avanti.

Okay, but nothing in that file can be newer than the date it was last modified, which is 15 September 2022.

Why are they getting rid of the IC225s? Maintenance costs?
Because they're getting old and won't be fitted with ETCS which will make them useless for the route when it's fitted with the new signalling.

Nothing to say they couldn't be fitted with ETCS, but their age will be an issue, even with ETCS they realistically wouldn't last more than 6 or 7 years. The oldest is already 35 and the newest is now 32.

Indeed - no reason to be designing and fitting ETCS on the Class 91s when they’re already past their design lifespan, and have no future beyond LNER (unlike the Class 90s).

Somewhere, not in London

You could say the same about so many of the in scope freight fleets...

That was my understanding as well, nothing about the end of the 225 (not sure when the next major overhaul is due) but if they were to go they would be replaced by 5 car IETs already in service. So no more 2x 8xx, just single units and demand based pricing to deter potential passengers from travelling by train.
FTFY.
LNER trains are already busy for most of the day, with little realistic scope to move people to more lightly-used trains by cheaper advance tickets, so any use of demand-based pricing to manage loading on those shortened trains will simply be turning passengers away from the railways.

Which I think ultimately this is what DfT wants. Passengers are an inconvience. If you look in the South East they have scrapped a lot of stock because it is more profitable to have an overcrowded 8 car unit then an comfortably loaded 12 car unit.
