The approval of the coaches is now so close that DSB and DB have released all seats for booking from June 17th to July 22nd and from July 31st to November. The last week in July will be released next week and due to construction works the trains will only run between Hamburg and Fredericia and only with IC3 during that week.

On all trains with IC1 coaches DSB will sell coffee and snacks from "Kaffe Ekspressen" - the coffee will be served free of charge in 1st class.

DSB will also provide a bag with a 30cl bottle of water, crispbread, chocolate and a wet wipe for all passengers in 1st class.

The above mentioned services will only be offered when the trains are in Denmark (Padborg-Copenhagen). Deutsche Bahn will not provide anything between Padborg and Hamburg Hbf.

Please be aware that there will be no cold drinks offered for sale on the trains with IC1.

I booked seat reservations for Copenhagen - Hamburg on 26 August a few weeks ago via DB. I assume these will still be valid, or will I need to rebook?

On July 31st both the IC Berlin - Amsterdam and the ICE International run into the Netherlands normally.
There only are some ICEs diverted between Köln and Arnhem, resulting in them skipping Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Oberhausen.
yea and they are the later ones, aka the ones i would i would need

Yea available to book now

Thou im now screwed over by DB doing engineering on both routes into Amsterdam at the same time so now impossible to rebook for the route and now cant even use the ticket they sold me as for a train that won't run anymore but not told yet so can't convert to a flexible ticket and even then can't really take any other train as none will be running
You don't need to rebook. Sparpreis tickets can be used flexible if the original service is not available for whatever reason. Yes you May have to endure a rail replacement service. There is no need to be screwed. Engineering is a usual railway procedure.

Though you may wish to purchase reservations (not tickets) for the new services, at your own discretion.

Issue is I had to rebook anyway as original booking was before the Copenhagen Hamburg trains became bookable so was loads of tight connections and wanted to change to the now running direct, also taking next available service isn't really useful if due to this there is no next available service till the next day and by then would have missed my Eurostar in Amsterdam, zero word of a replacement bus service either

It doesn't matter whether they've notified you or not. Also, the "conversion" is not an action, it is automatic. Where are you travelling to?

It would be really helpful if you could just mention what your complete journey is, what your time limitations are, and for which train(s) you currently have a ticket or reservations. Without specific information, it's very hard to offer help.

And do you have a train ticket for that complete route from Copenhagen to Amsterdam? In that case, you now automatically have a flexible ticket for that day and you can use the DB planner to find a connection that suits you. You are not tied to the exact route either, so you can also use the IC Osnabrück-Amsterdam instead. E.g. Copenhagen 9:10 - Amsterdam 21:10 with changes in Hamburg and Osnabrück.

Issue is Copenhagen to Hamburg is reservation compulsory and that isn't excempted in such cases, that's the part I wanted to change to avoid missing connections

Either way mute point now as ended up booking a flixbus to Hamburg that arrives earlier than the first IC of the day then new flexible ticket Hamburg to Amsterdam, was able to refund Copenhagen to Amsterdam so only loss is the cost of the flixbus

so the IC1's entered service today and already seems to be problematic with doors able to open on non-platform side

Totally normal practice in mainland Europe, particularly Eastern Europe but also including France. Germany had modified them for sided door operation but the Danish locomotives don't support it.

I'm amazed the Man in Seat 61 was taken aback by it!

Just for future reference (and for future readers):
https://travel.b-europe.com/dsb-rail/en/reservation-only#TravelWish
will do reservation-only for the DSB/DB trains (I am travelling on 30 July).
Seat61 will tell you that, but I had missed it :( and was fortunate to get the link from a colleague on a German forum :)

Yes, not uncommon in older trains. I've once gotten off a train on the wrong side which was a bit surprising. Twice if you count the time I did it but only noticed it a bit later.

It's slowly being phased out though. I don't think there are any trains left in Belgium where doors on the non-platform side can be opened, except for the night trains. In the Netherlands, the only trains left are probably the IC Amsterdam-Berlin and the night trains.

Apparently there is also a system called SSTF (German abbreviation for Side Selective Door interlocking Fernverkehr) in use on IC sets, which is some kind of improvement on TB0.
However I don't know if the Dutch 1700 locos do support SSTF. They do have TB0 for sure, but that doesn't prevent opening the door on the wrong side. But I haven't ever seen a Berlin-IC with doors opened on the wrong side either.

Probably that's also what the Danish Vectron locos are missing.

Last belgian cars to allow that were the M1 class, which were retired some 40 years ago.

But that doesn't mean there weren't any trains where doors on the wrong side could be opened.
The carriages running in the Brussels-Amsterdam IC trains allowed this before they were modified for the HSL and Traxx locomotives to allow for side-specific door opening. The carriages in the trains Brussels-Basel probably too.

how are they doing the loco swaps at each end?, just adding a loco to the front in hamburg and copenhagen or taking to a siding for the original loco to detach and drive around?
