A leisurely walk downstairs to the Victoria Line where at 0923 we'll board a train heading for Walthamstow Central, but we'll alight at Tottenham Hale at 0943 Tuesday morning.

Loving how we've basically done Bishops Stortford to Bishops Stortford via Brighton!!!

Let's now board 2H18, Greater Anglia's 1038 service, which (as seems to be my current way with rail posts!!) we will take to its destination of Cambridge North, where we arrive at 1118 on Tuesday.

Wander outside the station to The Busway Stop 1, where at 1140 we'll board Stagecoach East service B which we'll take to Huntingdon Bus Station arriving at 1248 Tuesday afternoon.

(I did look to see if we could get back to Bedford for comedy value, but the 905 doesn't run via Cambridge North.....)

Gah - the connection time of 4 mins for the next 905 is 1 minute too short for quiz rules.......

However, the rest of the choices are back to Cambridge or Huntingdon (and the station's over a mile away, so that's out as well), so we'll wander around St Neots and find a nice coffee shop to while away an hour before picking up the 1515 Stagecoach 905 to Bedford Bus Station arriving there at 1555 Tuesday afternoon.

You got there!!!

We are 0.4 miles (8 minutes) from the railway station, so we walk there and board 1Y39, East Midlands Railway's 1627 service to Corby. We alight at Kettering at 1646 on Tuesday.

Indeed !

Now - Kettering I know quite well - and there are very few buses from the vicinity of the railway station and the bus station is more than 0.5 miles away. Fortunately the Horsemarket stops are 0.5 miles / 10 minute walk away, so we'll start by heading there. Once there we'll pick up the 1717 Stagecoach X4 heading to Northampton, but we'll alight at Earls Barton o/s The Old Swan at 1808 Tuesday evening.

Hmm... decisions, decisions - Rushden Lakes offers the options of returning to Bedford, returning to Kettering, or going back the way we've just come.

We'll wait for the next X47 back towards Northampton which leaves Rushden Lakes at 1930, but we'll alight at Great Billing adj Penfold Lane / Great Billing Turn at 2016 Tuesday evening.

Clue: there are some other stops within 0.5 miles of this stop with other routes......

We decide to take in some silly names, so walk (9 mins / 0.4 mile) to the Pig and Whistle Public House, where at 2041 we board Stagecoach Midlands service 2. We alight at Boothville, Lumbertubs Public House at 2051 on Tuesday.

I don't recommend the Pig & Whistle......

We'll wait for the 2119 Stagecoach service 7, and keeping on the silly pub names, we'll alight at the White Elephant PH at 2134 Tuesday evening.

I reckon it is Kingsley Park, judging by the 7 timetable...
Northampton isn't a place I know at all - think I went through once on the train...

There are numerous routes around here, but it seems that the only one still going at this time of the evening is the aforementioned 7. So, not really wanting to head out to the suburbs and risk getting stranded overnight, we await the next Stagecoach Midlands 7 at 2204, which we take to Northampton Bus Interchange (Bay 6), arriving at 2210 on Tuesday.

Most of the options at this time of night are town services, fine if you want to see the delights of Rectory Farm, Ecton Brook, Thorplands or various other bits of Northampton, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it..... On which basis let's take the 2320 National Express 707 to Birmingham Digbeth Coach station arriving there at 0110 Wednesday morning.

Can I make a notable exception here based on the time of the day?

We exit the coach station to the bus stop outside, where we board the 0114* National Express West Midlands Platinum Electric service 6 to Shirley Heath (Solihull Gate), arriving there at 0142 in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

* I appreciate this is only four minutes cconnection (one short of the minimum connection on here), however it is the last service of the day and also at that time of the hour we're unlikely to miss it!

Not blessed with many options at Tenbury so we'll take the next Yarranton Bros 291 at 1430, alighting at Bewdley - Load Street at 1501 Wednesday.

In my defence, we had done quite a few bus journeys so just wanted to break it up a bit!

We exit Dorridge station to the bus stop outside, where we board the 1858 Land Flight service A7 to Blossomfield (Charles Road), arriving there at 1904 on Wednesday evening.
