On Sunday, I observed the 2100 to Birmingham was a pair of 170s, is that part of a set diagram for the class? That question is aimed at everyone

This is a Saturday. I was under the impression that the 0839 HFD BHM and rest of diagram was the 170s on a Saturday?

170s are booked on saturdays on the same diagram as the weekdays.

Interesting, been a couple of weeks since I've seen it though.

In other news, looks like a final test run for 196s between Worcester LMD and Hereford this evening, presumably final checks for service entry.

I've also been informed that the 1039 and 1139 HFD - BHM on weekdays from May TT are booked 196.

I observed 196007+196008 in platform 5 as I rolled into Shrewsbury on the 2011 from Machynlleth today, that was a nice surprise. Pretty sure one of those is a score for sight

Anyone know what happened to the 2040 from Shrewsbury? At 2126 it was showing on the screen as delayed, I'm guessing it got cancelled in the end as there was quite a crowd for 158828 which I got off.

Having made enquiries along my usual covert channels, apaprently this started out as a small issue which quickly escalated into a major series of issues which, if the service had got underway, had the potential to indeed cause issues either at Wolverhampton or Birmingham.
Cab doors, cab door controls (remember boys and girls, Abellio / WMT decided to make these guard unfriendly so...no saloon panels) and computer issues as the two units would not uncouple from each other when they tried to separate them to try and run it as a 2 car service with 007 alone.

Has 008 operated in service for WMR prior to this failed attempt? I'm a bit outdated with this unit as my last record had it being at Long Marston

Thanks for the gen Yikes to the numerous issues, understandable that it was cancelled then.

196008 was a score for sight, so I'm down to just 7 more /0s and /1s to see. I'm quite pleased with that it must be said!

Was this just a one off problem or an escalation of the same ‘small issues’ seen on numerous sets? I.e, is there potential for this to happen again on other trains.

Stupid question, but what routes are the 196s eventually going to run on, and where are they planned to be introduced next? Or have they been introduced on all routes they're intended to run on?
What's happening with the 172s, also?
