Involved in an incident at Cressington in February and treated with caution after, despite overhaul last year

No problem. You never know with 127 as well: Merseyrail can't spare many more 508s without more capacity cuts and things are very far from smooth on the 777 front at present.

@MR-507508 reported 507019 had an incident in early February. Esteemed reports elsewhere claim it hit debris on the line which caused damage below the solebar. It was at Kirkdale for a good few weeks after the incident.
It struck a metal sheet

Travelled on 508125 , it looks like its held together with yellow gaffer tape.
Funnily enough some of the brand new 777s are held together with yellow tape.

OK, not held together, but I've been sent a photo from a staff member showing huge amounts of what appears to be masking tape around the edges of the drivers desk and GSMR unit etc. Presumably been put there by drivers due to wind noise coming through the emergency door or something!

I'm not going to share the photo just incase it lands anybody in trouble.

Seems that merseyrail have gone back on what I saw posted recently which said that none of the 507s would be withdrawn unless they were out of mileage or damaged like 507019 was and consequently as a result now it makes it harder to know what information to go with now.

I believe there are a few 507's that are due to leave due to several factors, not just low milage. The 508's are going to be dropping very fast over the next few months, with only a few 507's leaving us.

37884, 37800 and possibly others have the right couplers and other equipment to not need barriers. Back when the refurbs were done that wasn't the case, so the barrier vehicles were needed.

A shame to see 507024 and 025 go next if that is the case as both are good units IMO. I had a ride on 507024 on the Southport line today and it has an excellent turn of speed.

However, at some point it was inevitable that 507s would start to go before more recently overhauled 508s. The likes of 508127 and 138 won't be too far behind unfortunately.

It will be interesting to see how many more 507s are overhauled; I can't imagine many. I believe the likes of 507003 (possibly receiving overhaul now), 507005, 507009 and 507027 are nearing their mileage limits.

For those interested as well 507025 is on Southport duties this morning :)

507024 & 507025 are expected to be stood down on Tuesday/Wednesday, I'd advise anyone who wants to take one last ride on these units to do so today and tomorrow incase both are withdrawn on Tuesday.

Is there a list on one of the pages showing which 507/508 units have been withdrawn?
Or is it a case of looking thru all 17 pages of this thread?

Thanks

Currently the only units from the Merseyside area which have been withdrawn and shredded into millions of pieces are 507006 & 019 aswell as 508s 110, 122, 123, 134, 140 & 143 giving 8 units in total

Out of our fleet of 59 units, these are the only units to leave the Merseyside area at this time, the imminent withdrawal of 507024 & 025 will bring the total up to 10 leaving us just 49 for service.

Do you know the reason these were chosen over a pair of 508s?
Out of mileage and other factors, I don't have exact details regarding the other factors.

Technically we'll have lost 11 units if you also count 507022

Well, no. 507022 was withdrawn in 1991, so include that and you'll also have to include the 16 Class 508s (101/02/05-07/09/13/16/18/19/21/29/32/33/35/42) which were gradually stood down from 1991-97. That makes a total of 27.
